Office.
The day I walked into the room with proud written all over my face, well for me it was. What others saw was just a contrast of it. I was dressed in pastel pink suit which did wonders to my figure and matched those my favourite white coloured pumps. A little lip colour to lift up my confidence was all it took to swipe any heart in my way.
“Hey Ross!!” I fist bumped in the way with my camera guy with most striking features before entering Mrs. Vesper’s cabin. Neat bun, sophisticated grace and a suit worth millions draped around her figure perfectly. A delicate chain dangled down her neck with statement earrings. Her glazed nails tapped on the surface of the white table. She lift her eyes in my direction before acknowledging my presence.
“Miss Ames!!” She exclaimed, before pointing at the empty mesh seat. Only I knew how much of that proud face hides deeper opposite meaning
“The report of Burmen.” I placed my laptop upon the table, with a smile of my own. Her eyes followed my face before going back to the papers. Fixing her glasses the middle aged woman looked quite radiant. Her cat eyes scanned the reports like a metal scanner ready to find any hidden needle, yet there was none as always. A soft sigh left her lips as she turned her attention towards me.
“You’re one perfect woman.” It was as if I injected pride into her veins which pumped all over her body. Mrs. Vesper liked me. “Any chance you need a promotion?” she questioned already knowing my answer.
A soft smile was all I could give, as this was a millionth time she offered me a promotion. Trust me I liked climbing the ladder as much as the next person, but this was not what I desired for the time being. The woman sighed in susceptibility. “anyways this wasn’t the only thing I called you for.” Curiosity crept in my bones as I could feel it, my gut already told me there was more to it. I raised a gentle brow in her direction.
“There’s an event coming up in the states, mostly outdoors and they have selected our channel as their main streaming platform. It’s gonna be live.” Mrs. Vesper explained calmly.
“ what’s the event?”
“A launch party, Miss Ashley Carter is launching her new winery grabbing a huge crowd of celebs.” She further added. “Miss Kenna will also be there but I need you to join her as well.”
“I’m sorry but why me?” I asked because as unreasonable as it sounded I needed to know why was I, a crime journalist would be assigned to cover a celebrity’s event??
“Miss Ames, as you know we have a smattering amount of celebrity journalist given your tongue and Miss Elbert’s wits.” She stated the obvious her eyes ping ponged between my face and her laptop screen. “You don’t even need to say something.” Now that was the real problem. Out of all things she asked me was to keep my mouth shut??? It didn’t ring like a great idea at all.
Half an hour later.
As persuasive as Mrs. Vesper was she succeeded in convincing me to attend a freaking launch party that was due in the next eight days. I moved a shell of flesh around while my soul already took the flyover to the events that would be coming up in the next days.
“Back to mother earth Rev!!” A shrilling voice blasted out from my phone as I totally forgot about calling someone. I got reminded we were briefing each other up about the other day.
