I wasn’t sure if it was the perfect idea to romance miss thief but here I was buying her the prettiest roses and couriering them at her office like a mad lover, While totally working around with whole PR team, planning and plotting! Partly also trying to discover if she was on the same page as me? If not then I would have to work harder, and that would cause me lifetime of tediousness which I wasn’t up for. I needed the book and her underlying purpose for possessing the book as quickly as possible so this façade was temporary.
I would really didn’t care about the color palette of roses but those peach ones actually did remind me of her lips, or else I was going for the usual pink ones. Her replies came as sassy as I had imagined them to be. Her sarcasm and indifference somehow hinted her slight dislike towards me hinting my plan would fail miserably. Because she was the most unexpected homo sapien wrapped in a perilously sexy body.
Giving her a bit of space was necessary or else she would doubt me, given the sharpness of her mind!
It was a task by tarnishing my name along and I hated it as much as beauty hates ugliness, as sanity hates insecurity. I couldn’t force her to like me, it would repel Reverie more. I worked on the current case, and even though she corrupted my senses I worked more dedicatedly on the current case. My mind was at ease which nonplussed me more.
The usual day ended with a usual night showing itself around my glass windows, the city scintillated in the night sky. New York was livelier be it night or day. I grabbed my keys ready, revving the engine I roved to my penthouse, loosening my work attire I slipped out of a hot shower before walking towards the kitchen island. Mark already prepared dinner for me and was long gone, leaving the food untouched and fresh for my eating, searched for the plates, my eyes halted at the unfamiliar object resting on the dining table. A bouquet with blue tulips laid ever so beautifully on the counter with a box of chocolates and a note ofcourse.
Note to be taken, men adore flowers too!
They reminded me of your eyes
- You know me <3
I clicked my tongue in amusement, this woman’s revenge card was totally on a different level which parred people. She would be a good sport I wondered. I wasn’t supposed to garner any other intention rather than revenge but here we are planting flowers on each other’s garden of a heart!
My hands reached for my phone, where her message awaited me patiently..
Miss thief – hope you like my commendation!
Yes sure little woman, I’m charmed by your gestures! You’re one vengeful creation of the lord. Instead of chatting with her like a teenager I decided to buzz her phone, and after good three rings, she finally picked up my call.
“Can’t live without hearing my voice?” A rather mischievous voice spoke to me making way straight towards my heart melting me all over again. I could feel my veins turning mushy and my face radiating with red.
“How could I? You returned the gesture, the flowers are gorgeous though.” I answered in an equally charming voice. “Didn’t know you paid soo much attention to my eyes.” I added smirking at the thought of her admiring my eyes, being totally aware of how she has always noticed the depth of them, making me drown in her own grey ones.
“Hah! You’re not the only one blessed with observational skills.” she was right, hate aside I observed her way beyond normal people should. Busted!
“Trust me I could write a poem on each one of those exceptional features you’ve been blessed with, you just don’t know my intensity Miss Peach!” I wasn’t bluffing, I never did except in the court. She was one piece of fine art created by God, from her sultry lips, unmarked face, straight raised nose to her breath-taking eyes. She was one genetically blessed woman, who knew how to tangle the strings of someone’s feeble heart.
“Did that kiss drain your brains? You’ve changed after that night! Given the nonchalance upon the video leak” She remarked, truth danced in her words. Something did change and I was reminded by what did change, the truth suddenly came slapping itself on my face. For a brief moment I forgot about what my intention was, my true target!! I just got a bit carried away with her sweet retaliation.
“I got to know you a little.” My words imposed second meaning.
“Uhuh, aren’t you too confident? Judging me by just a kiss? I can be more or be less. You never know”
“Then maybe we could do more things to find out what lies underneath you!” I suggested licking my lips, mockery quite evident in my tone. But I gulped that down for a while.
“Yeah, definitely. So what’s next you proposing me?” her question hung sarcastically, gaining a soft chuckle out of my lips.
“Unfortunately I don’t know your size, but I’ll make sure to know each and every inch of your body.” Brazen. Blatant. Barefaced. I did wanna know her for what she did and how treacherous she could become. Did she do it because of some money? I was sure people would be emptying pockets for that book and she would bathe in the money literally. Yet Reverie didn’t seem like a woman after money, given her looks she could get anyone under her leash. I won’t even judge them, then what was it? Fame? She got that, a kink?.. I kept guessing all the possible reasons as I couldn’t control the lengths my mind would go to find the correct possibilities.
“And you think that would quench your thirst for more? You will be exhausted.” And even the savage coating upon her words didn’t stop me, from gulping my own saliva. “Sweet dreams Mr. Ocean eyes!” That word stuck in my head for a long time. I hummed before ending the call and munched on my dinner, something in her words did make my food more palatable. Wasn’t sure what was I moaning for, Reverie’s words or the delectable food Mark cooked, both were moan worthy.
I looked at the time before reaching out for my phone. It was 12 at night and I was about to sleep. I had a hearing the next morning and it was one crucial case I needed to prepare for. The tulips rested neatly in the vase for they were the most beautiful colour I’ve seen. It again reminded of Reverie and this time I slapped myself harder to bring my attention back to the case. Fortunately the night went in peace, my brain being Reverie-proofed for the night.
The very first hearing had started in the morning, the jury members settled themselves while I studied the posture of the witness. Frail body, messy blonde hair and dark circles around his eyes, clearly showing the amount of drugs he infused in his body. The case was half murder committed by the husband under the influence of drugs, his wife and a three year old daughter both survived. We listened carefully to what the victim had to say since we were fighting for the culprit. I chose my cases sometimes they chose me it was a fair game, first come first served was what I followed.
“I bluffed if he helped me with this case, Tiffany will be his.” A cheeky smile lengthened the ends of my mouth, negatively clever I know. Watching Ashton’s expressions baffled I cleared myself. “Don’t worry, the could be reaching at his doorstep any moment now “ I looked at the time on my watch.
“Cunning of you to do this, anyways she overstated her case, and lost a lot of sympathy. “ Ashton remarked the truth, yes I was. I didn’t deny being cunning or any other such words being thrown at my back. I didn’t step into the court to be a softie and win everyone with my charm. When I dived into the case, I made sure it was a deep dive which even surpassed the submarine. I switched on the tv while having my lunch, the usual news bored me but a certain face made me pause the channel. Reverie was interviewing another big shot in the crime industry, she was dressed in a formal brown chequered skirt paired with a white blouse which gave her a perfect look of her profession.
An Idea popped in my head, I tell you these days it was as if my brain was on a constant active mode with soo much going on. The planning and plotting as if I was a typical vamp from a cheesy daily soap. Yet I wanted to see her as much as I wanted to break her.
