A/N Okay, it's been years since I've written anything on here. So I may be a bit rusty in the writing department. So, I hope this isn't a complete dumpster fire. Anywhodoodles, on with the chapter.
November 3rd 834
Screaming, all I heard was my Mother screaming. It echoed all the way from my Parents room, to my room at the other end of the house. If Grandfather didn't tell me what was going on, I would've thought something way worse was happening to Mother. But that wasn't the case.
Soon, i was no longer going to be an only child. My mother was having a baby. Soon, I was going to be a big sister, despite the fact of not wanting to share the spotlight or my parents' love. I knew this baby was going to be born, whether I liked it or not, and I would just have to get over it.
When Father told me Mother was pregnant and explained what it meant. I hid myself in my room. I felt betrayed, like I was getting replaced. Why would they want another Child when they had me. Was I not good enough? I know now I was just being a brat, but can you blame me. I'm only Six.
The only thing I know about babies is that they're loud and stinky. My friends Mom just had a baby not too long ago, and every time I go to his house, all the baby does is cry, I'm not really looking forward to hearing that all the time.
I was pulled out of my train of thought when I heard someone gently knocking on our front door. I walked to my bedroom door and sneakily stuck my head out and saw Grandfather open up the door and then Dr. Yeager walked in. He hung up his hat on the rack while Grandfather shut the door.
"How's Calista doing?" Dr. Yeager asked. Grandfather sighed before answering. "Her contractions are getting closer together, I don't think this baby is going to wait much longer"
Dr. Yeager nodded. "I apologize, I would've been here much sooner. But I got caught up with another patient. You have all the essentials ready, right?"
Grandfather nodded while fixing the sleeves on his shirt. "I'll lead the way" and with that, they disappeared into my parents' bedroom, closing the door behind them.
I frowned. Then, I walked away from the door, nearly tripping over the toys I left on the floor. "DANG IT!" Now I know why Mother always told me to clean up my toys.
I walked over to my bed, bending down and pulling out a dusty book I kept underneath there. I wiped off the dust before climbing up on my bed and hiding underneath the covers.
I excitedly opened up the book, looking at the various pictures of animals on the pages. I wasn't able to pronounce all the names, but I was okay with that. I just enjoyed looking at the pictures.
My favorite were Ducks. It's so cool how they got to fly anywhere they want without being trapped within the walls. One day, I'd like to see things other than these walls. Maybe see some of the animals in my book up close.
There has to be more than this. Maybe when I'm older, I'll join the Military. I know I'm too young to be thinking about that, but that may be the only way to see all the things I want to see. It would definitely be tough, but It would be worth it, wouldn't it? Hopefully, Mother and Father would be okay with it.
I sighed and turned over another page of my book but then whined when I felt the corner of the page slice my finger. Drops of blood dripped on the current page I was looking at before I was able to wrap my finger in shirt to stop the bleeding.
I really love hurting myself today. I looked down at the blood stained page. Dang, Grandfather is probably going to be upset that I ruined his book. I closed the book in frustration then shoved it underneath my bed again.
