Macyn.
I could have kicked myself.
I let my guard down for about thirty seconds in front of one of the few people I hate the most.
But the worst part is, in the intensity of our moment? There was more than the emotion of anger between us.
I almost wanted to kiss him.
I can not think like that around him.
Those feelings are in the past. They've been buried deep in a cold, dark grave I'd made for them.
And I have no intention of digging them back up, for any guy.
Not after the hell he put me through three years ago. Then without even an apology he disappears until now!
Who the hell does he think he is? I think angrily to myself.
"If Ryder Lee thinks he can add me to his list of whores like his older brother? He better watch it." I whisper.
I walk down the hall, my nails digging into my palm and the other hand clenching my book.
My next class was English and I was praying it wasn't with Ryder. I scan Mrs. Drake's room and saw no sign of him. That means he's in Mr. Ferguson's class.
I let out a breath of relief. Good.
Walking down the aisle in search of an open seat I spot a familiar light haired girl and smile.
She was sitting in the back of the middle row, so I sit across from her in the next row over. "I was hoping I'd see a familiar face again today," I say as she looks up at me and smiles, " Hey Rose."
"Hey, sorry, I wasn't paying attention. It's just really awkward being in a room full of strangers that are older than me," she laughs nervously.
I furrow my brows in confusion.
"What do you mean 'older?' Aren't you a Senior?"
"Well yes, but I was homeschooled, which gave me the advantage of getting ahead about two years..."
"Woah. Wait a second. How old are you?"
"Um... Sixteen?"
My jaw drops and my eyes widen in great surprise.
"My God, why didn't I ever do that? I could have avoided one of the worst years of my life," I say, my voice getting softer as I finish my sentence. My head drops into my hand with my elbow resting on the desk.
"What do you mean?"
I shake my head and sit up to face the front of the room.
"It's a long story. I'll have to tell you someday when I get the chance."
"Oh. Well, alright."
As if on cue the teacher begins class. Our first story we were going to explore was The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe.
