Zuo Hang was no longer within my visual range as Zhang Ji sped up through the road. My grip tightened on his shoulders when he accelerated the motorcycle's speed even more.
"What's going on?"
"Someone's following us."
"What?" I looked behind, but I couldn't see anyone. I couldn't even hear a screech of sound.
And then all of a sudden, I almost bumped to the guy in front of me when he suddenly stopped the motorcycle. The sudden friction almost caused us to fall forward. "Oh fudge," he curses.
I peeked in front of us, and there goes the trouble that I expected to come. Please, not now. Of all moments for him to show up, he appeared when we were trying to escape.
"Is this enough to compensate for the Missy's lie?" Zhang Ji remarked, pertaining to the lie I said about the treasure. He pulled the bundle of money from his pocket and showed it to Yu Junxi. He threw it to his direction and the latter immediately caught it. The smirk on Ji's face showed how proud he is that he found the money first.
"I found an important information that you wouldn't want to miss." Yu Junxi spoke. He seemed not to be bothered when he found that I lied to him. Did he change his mind? He's calm. Too calm that I couldn't guess if he's going to attack us.
"And that is?" Zhang Ji cocked his eyebrow.
Yu Junxi shrugged. "You'll only find out when you're dead."
Zhang Ji groaned in frustration and threw another bundle of money to Yu Junxi. "Your friend is already awake."
My eyes went round. I remember. Its Zhang Zeyu: Ji and Hang's friend who got into an accident. Although it is believed that Skylar was the one who caused it.
Without further talks, Zhang Ji accelerated the vehicle and passed by Yu Junxi, who didn't bother chasing after us. He simply watched as we escaped, and I couldn't help but try to think. I don't know what his plans are. He's really a tough nut to crack. His next moves are always hard to guess.
"Something wrong?" I asked when Zhang Ji stopped the motorcycle again.
"Someone's still following us." He clicked his tongue and straightened his back. "Hey! We don't have all time here so why don't you just stop acting stupid and show yourself up?" He shouted out of nowhere in the middle of the road.
I looked behind and covered my eyes the moment streetlights suddenly flashed. I covered my eyes with my hand but between my fingers, I sought the car showering us with light. The door opened and a girl stepped out from it.
It had been a long time since I saw her, and I admit that some of her features have changed. She looked fiercer and wilder compared to when she became my friend.
"Nicole," I whispered.
Her gaze softened when her eyes darted to me. "Florianne," she paused and sighed. "I know so much things has happened, and I know it'd be too surprising to ask you this, but you have to come with me."
"Screw that," Zhang Ji spoke.
I could see how determined Nicole's eyes were, but the way she just forgot about me and cut me off her life flashed back on me. She didn't tell me anything and just left me off wondering what was wrong.
"Its dangerous here, Nicole. You shouldn't be here," was all I replied. Moreover, there's still a huge possibility that she's on Skylar's side. There are many obstacles going on our way, and I couldn't help but think that she's one of them.
"Florianne, please, you have to listen to me." Nicole neared to me and tried to hold my hand but I stepped back. She gulped. "You have to stay away from all those guys who acted like a friend to you."
