"I've been very inspired by tonight's weather. I'd like to announce that this year's theme will be..." Tamaki's announcement had everyone in suspense.
"Winter Wonderland!"
(Y/N)'s lips curved into a smile. She couldn't help but laugh out of happiness. She watched as her friends jumped and danced around the room - even Kyoya seemed happy, not to mention Mori who was swinging Honey in circles. "Tamaki, that's a great idea!" smiled the girl at the blonde, who was pulling her into a hug.
She proceeded to list decoration ideas in a dream-like state, imagining how pretty everything would look. "We could put fake snow on the floor and hang white fairy light from the ceiling!" (Y/N) suggested, pulling away from Tamaki's warm embrace.
"And yummy winter cakes!" Honey chimed in, giggling, still held firmly in Mori's grip as they spun around the room.
"Yes!" Hikaru and Kaoru smiled. "Our Mother can design matching outfits for us all. (Y/N), we can put you in a dress that matches our suits!"
Whilst (Y/N) didn't exactly mind the idea of being kitted out in a suit, she did prefer the idea of being in a beautiful ballgown. "Thank you!" she nodded at them in appreciation.
"Our guests would love mistletoe," Kyoya said as he noted his idea into his trustworthy notebook.
"I think a few of our Hosts wouldn't mind having mistletoe," Haruhi said, gluing her eyes in (Y/N) and Tamaki's direction. Tamaki noticed, while (Y/N) didn't. Haruhi observed as the blonde turned several shades of red, before vigorously waving his hands in a way to dismiss her idea.
"Mistletoe sound amazing Kyoya!" smiled (Y/N), oblivious to the interaction happening between Haruhi and Tamaki. "And Haruhi, you're right, I think it would be good for the Hosts to make use of it too," she continued, sweetly looking up at Tamaki, whose face flushed even redder upon locking eyes with the pretty girl. "Tamaki, I'm sure some girl would want to kiss you at the ball, don't you agree?" she asked, painfully oblivious to what she had just done. She didn't mean herself, she simply meant some irrelevant fangirl.
The girl had not only said the Hosts could use the mistletoe, but literally look at Tamaki after saying it. However, she only did it because she was directing her next question at him. That simple action of looking at him gave everybody the wrong impression. Whoops.
Tamaki's mouth opened to say something, however all that came out was a long, breathy gasp.
"Well, of course, (Y/N)," Kyoya's smooth voice rung. "Tamaki is the Host Club King, after all." He knew (Y/N) wasn't aware of what she'd just done, and knew he had to ease the awkwardness from Tamaki. Taking over the conversation seemed to be the way to do that.
The words 'Host Club King' triggered something in Tamaki. It was like a switch was flipped inside of him. "Yes! I, Tamaki Suoh, and the King of the Host Club!" he beamed, seemingly forgetting all about his awkwardness before.
With Tamaki back to 'normal', awkwardness faded from the music room, and regularity flowed between the eight friends once more.
--
"Who shall we invite to the Ball?" Mori's sturdy voice spoke once a silence had appeared in the room. He was sat on the edge of a sofa, as were all of the other members of the club.
"Obviously our guests," stated Kyoya, flicking through the lengthy list of students who attended the Host Club. (Y/N) winced at the thought of Ryuk attending. She was now of the knowledge he was signed up for regular sessions with Tamaki, thanks to the gossip the Hosts spilt about each customer.
"This may sound selfish, but may Ryuk Hoshi not get an invite?" the girl asked, looking Kyoya in the eyes. Luckily, Kyoya knew about hers and Ryuk's situation, so she knew he could pass up on one invitation.
Kyoya nodded. Tamaki wasn't fond of Ryuk either, so it wasn't tricky to get his approval for the idea. "That does mean we lose profit, though," Kyoya reminded with a saddened tone. He didn't want to be so focused on figures, but he knew he had to be... to impress his Father.
Suddenly, a marvellous idea popped into (Y/N)'s mind. She gasped, smiled, then turned to address Kyoya. "I know the perfect person to invite! Honestly, she'd be willing to pay up to ten times the amount just to meet you all!"
--
"CARLA!!!" (Y/N) yelled the moment she set foot in her mansion. She was out of breath from running up her driveway, but truthfully, she couldn't care less.
She had the best news for her best friend.
"Nice to see you too?" Carla smiled, watching her best friend keel over in front of her, gasping for air.
"I... have... the..." (Y/N) heaved, trying her best to get the news to her friend. She felt an arm on her back.
Carla spoke, "Calm down and take your time. No doubt you're going to tell me a very boring story. What, did you make eye contact with a super cute guy today?" she mocked, very obviously in a playful manner.
"No!" giggled (Y/N), playfully smacking Carla's arm. Once she'd regained her breath, (Y/N) continued. "Carla, I have the best news ever."
"If it doesn't involve me, I'm going," she joked, pretending to start walking away from (Y/N).
"It does involve you, I swear!" huffed the (H/C), rolling her eyes as Carla ran straight back to her.
"Don't leave me in suspense then!" Carla pleaded, eyes gleaming in anticipation.
"Well, every year at school, the Host Club host an event. It's called the Winter Ball," spoke (Y/N) as Carla listened intensely. "There was a spare invite, and Kyoya asked if I knew anybody able to fill up the space. I told him I did. So, my dear friend Carla... do you fancy coming to the Ouran Host Club's Winter Ball with me?"
(Y/N) barely had time to finish her sentence before Carla cut her off with a scream. She watched her best friend dance around the hallway like an idiot. Carla flung her arms around the girl, thanking her a million times over while (Y/N) nonchalantly replied with a few welcomes.
"So you'll come?"
"Yes! Yes! Without a doubt I'll go, (Y/N)!"
"Let me phone Kyoya to confirm your place then."
--
"I'm so sorry about her, Kyoya. Honestly, she's been wanting to meet the club ever since I joined," (Y/N) apologised over the phone as Carla continued to shriek in delight. The pair had been on the phone for around five minutes, and not once had Carla shut up.
"It's fine, (Y/N)," sighed Kyoya from the other end of the phone, occasionally having to take his ear away from his mobile to quieten the joyful screams of Carla. "Will you promise me she won't be like... this when she comes to the Ball?"
"I can't. Honestly Kyo, you have no idea how obsessed she is with you all," giggled (Y/N). "If she met you all beforehand, I'm sure she'd be more accustomed to you by the time of the Ball?"
"That would be best. I can't have her being like this on the night of the Ball. It's a sophisticated event, not a meet and greet for celebrities," he replied, his voice stern. He wondered why (Y/N) couldn't have picked a less enthusiastic guest, but tried his best to keep an open mind for (Y/N) and her friend, he wanted (Y/N) to be happy.
"I understand. Don't you worry, I'll make sure she's on best behaviour the night of the Ball," (Y/N) joked, earning a small laugh from Kyoya. "You have no idea how thankful I am for you letting her come, Kyo," smiled (Y/N). There was a little silence over the phone.
Kyoya smiled from his end. "It's okay, (Y/N). When do you suggest we meet her then?"
"We are free tomorrow? The Host Club is welcome to come round if you guys would all like?"
"I'll let the others know."
Without another word, he hung up.
