~Chapter 31: thank you~

MATTHEO POV:

It was the next day and I was currently sat in my last class of the day. History of Magic. I hated this class. It was boring as fuck. All you do is learn the same shit over and over.

I stopped taking this class at my last school because I already knew everything but I had no choice but to take it here.

The only good thing about this lesson was that I was sat next to Theo. Who was by far my favorite in the group other than Inola. We were the only ones in our group in this lesson as the others had a free period. Lucky shits.

About 20 minutes in me and Theo were just talking about random stuff like smoking and why we started along with people we've slept with. Yknow the usual boy talk.

5 minutes later I overheard some dick talking about Inola and it immediately caught my attention.

Theo had obviously noticed that I had stopped listening and looked around to see where I was looking but soon after he heard the boy as well.

"Inola is hot as fuck man. Mattheo doesn't deserve her. She's way outa his league" he said to his friend sat with him who had clearly seen me as he shook his head at the boy and moved his hand in a motion infront of his neck clearly telling the boy to shut up. But he didn't. Big mistake.

Theo turned back around to look at me and gave me a look as if to say don't do something stupid.

I looked back at him with a devilish smirk and he rolled his eyes at me.

Before the boy could say anything else I stood up and walked over to the boy who was sat at the front of the class and spun his chair around so he was looking at me.

"Wanna say what you were saying to your friend over here to me?" I said leaning against the desk a hand each side of his body.

"Mattheo I-I erm" "I-I speak up pal I can't hear you" I said cutting him off.

"Say one more thing about me or Inola I will slice you to bits and feed you to my farthers snake. Got it" I spat at him.

I saw him gulp and he nodded his head yes.

"Good" I said getting right in his face then backed up grabbing my things from my desk and walking out with Theo following me in pursuit.

"Dude you good" Theo said as he pulled out a cigarette from his back pocket and lighting it as we went into the courtyard. "Yeah am good but no body talkes about her like that. No one. Not whilst I'm still alive" I said copying theos actions.

"Yknow dude. She really must like you" "what do you mean" I replied back looking at him in confusion.

"I mean that she must really like you because Nola doesn't normally do relationships. The last one she had was in 3rd year with some guy in our house but he moved to America soon after but she didn't care at all. I mean she cares but hides it as she's been through a lot yknow" Theo said before taking a puff from his cig.

"Like what" I said taking a puff from my cig as well.

"Well you know about her family n shit but she was also in the tournament the other year and was there when Cedric died. He got killed infront of her by your farther. And as you know she just got toured by him literally yesterday after he made her a deatheater man. She's stronger than she looks. She used to get into fights nearly everyday and dumbledoor even threatened to expel her if she carried on. We're all just scared that one day she will crack and either be depressed again or it will go back to how she used to be before you arrived. You make her a better person and we all thank you for that. We don't have to worry about her as much thanks to you" Theo said as we walked back towards the common room.

I stopped in my tracks letting his words sink in. I was the reason she was happy again but I also felt guilt and I don't know why. It was her guilt I felt.

"Hey erm ama catch up with you later I gotta go somewhere" I said scratching the back of my head and walking away.

I made my way up the astronomy tower to think over what Theo just said.

Once I had climbed up the 46 stairs that kill me off. Popcorn lungs at its finest I guess. I sat down at the edge of the tower dangling my legs off of the edge taking in the cold breeze which gently blew through my hair.

One word that Theo said ran through my head
'Thank you'. As well as 'you make her a better person'.

That was the first time someone had thanked me for something I had done without realizing I had done it. Something good.

It made me feel better about myself which doesn't happen a lot.

And Inola also made me a better person and I wanted to thank her for that every time I saw her.

I got caught out of my train of thought when I heard someone coming up behind me. It was her.

She sat down next to me whilst saying "Theo said you might be up here" smiling at me as she did.

I smiled back at her admiring how gorgeous she looked. She was wearing grey joggers, my hoodie I gave her months ago and some converse. Her hair was pulled up in a high ponytail with her glasses on which made her look adorable.

"So you gunna tell me what happened in HoM or do I have to ask Theo" she said looking at me.

"How'd you know about that" I said looking at her confused.

"Oh cmon matty Theo is in that lesson along with my brother I was bound to find out sooner or later"

"It was nothing" I said looking out into the sky which was slowly starting to turn dark as it got later.

"If you say so" she says looking out as well and taking out a cigarette packet from her pocket and handing it to me and taking on for her self.

Once they were both lit we sat in silence smoking and just enjoying each others company.

"Thank you" she suddenly said and I looked at her with confusion covering my face as I threw my finished cigarette over the edge of the tower with her following my actions.

"For what"

"For not bailing on me and making me a better person"

I just smiled at her and pulled her in for a kiss. "Your welcome love"

"Now cmon it's late and I'm tired" she said standing up and placing her hand out for me to take which I did.

We walked back to the common room skipping dinner and went to her dorm.

We both got changed into clothes we can sleep in.

We got in her bed and I laid my head on her chest as she played with my hair which started to send me off to sleep.

"Goodnight baby I love you" I said snuggling into her more.

"Goodnight matty I love you to" she said back placing a kiss on my head.

A few minutes later she was sound asleep and I was sat thinking still about what Theo said. And soon after fell asleep in her arms.
