As she walked in, she noticed some weird birds. They were navy blue with a red inner body. Everyone was surrounded by one or two birds, everyone except Yuno.
"Apparently these birds are called anti-birds. They peck on those with weaker mana"
"Look at him. Not a single bird near him"
Unfortunately for (Y/N), her whole body was swarmed with anti-birds. Oh dear... Seems like the 'Asta' guy was in a similar situation. He stood in front of Yuno and declared that he was going to be Magic Emperor while having dozens of anti-birds pecking him.
"THAT HURTS! What's up with these birds?!?!" He shrieked
Meanwhile, (Y/N) was flailing her arms at the birds as they were blocking her vision. She groaned in annoyance as she waved her arm. Doing so, she stumbled. She and Asta became a laughing stock as they were pecked by those stupid birds.
Poor Asta stumbled into someone. Someone with the most menacing aura ever. "I'm going to kill you, kid" He said in an intimidating tone. (Y/N) inspected his features. He had a thick neck, and a burly figure with messy black hair. He grabbed Asta's head and glared at him with a cigarette in his mouth. A brown-haired man approached him. "A captain can't kill an examinee!" He ordered.
"Is that Yami Sukehiro?!" Someone exclaimed from the crowd.
Wait..Yami?! 'Is it really..him? Is he the one I'm looking for...?' (Y/N) thought as her eyes were wide. She did it...She found him..For once in her life, she did something right..
Time skip
Everyone gathered around and gazed at the captains who were sat in a row. Fuegoleon Vermilion, captain of the Crimson Lions. Charlotte Roselei, captain of Blue Rose. Yami Sukehiro, captain of the Black Bulls. Nozel Silva, captain of the Silver Eagles. Rill Boismortier, captain of Azure Deer. Jack Ripper, captain of the Green Mantis. Dorothy Unsworth, captain of the Coral Peacocks. William Vangeance, captain of the Golden Dawn.
(Y/N) Pov
I stood beside Asta and a guy who said 'Ba-ha' a lot. I covered my face in my hood. I gazed at one man only. Yami Sukehiro. I couldn't give a care about this. I just wanted to get this over with. The man atop named Willaim Vangeance stepped forward. "Examinees, I will be in charge of this exam. Magic tree, descend!" He exclaimed as he summoned his grimoire. Suddenly, a huge tree was conjured and it gave each examinee a broomstick. "In the first exam, please hop onto the broom and fly Mages who can control magic powers should be able to do it. It's the basic way mages travel You are not qualified if you can't fly on a broom" He said bluntly
Several people struggled. I looked around and rolled my eyes. "How are you going to fly. You don't have magic!" Haru said in my head. I sat on my broom and tried to fly but I couldn't. Tch... Well I wasn't the only one.. Asta couldn't fly either. Yuno managed to fly effortlessly. He was standing on the broom gracefully flying. He caught the attention of everyone. How the hell..? 'You know what..' I summoned angel wings and sat on my broom and flew. Obviously it was the wings that helped me fly but what could a magic-less girl like me do? "Isn't that cheating?!" Haru shrieked in my head. "Shut up"
However, it wasn't easy to manoeuvre.. I was shaking like crazy and I fell off as my wings were fading. Before I landed into the ground, I felt something soft catch my back. It was Yuno. His face was calm, as I stared into his ember eyes and he stared into mine. "Thank you.." I muttered as my wings came back and I flew to my broom.
Yami POV
She doesn't have magic, I can tell. How did she even get angel wings..? It doesn't matter. She can't even fly on a broom...
I need to take a shit..
(Y/N) POV
'That was embarrassing... Ugh...' I calmed myself down and flew back to the ground. I guess I failed this test, then.. I looked to my right and saw Asta struggling to even get the broom off the ground. Poor guy...I saw everyone mocking him and turned to face them. What a bunch of assholes...
Time for the next test. Magic power test. We had to break through a wall with our magic. I used Divine Magic to break the wall with Divine Magic: Angel's Light. Easy.. Next, Magic Power control. It was somewhat okay. Next test, Creation Magic. I summoned a dove and it flew away. (bye bye birdie) Test after test, I did alright in them. Yuno performed exceptionally. And Asta...Well he failed all of them... I almost felt bad for him. After all, he had no magic like me but somehow I could do things that a mage could do... If it weren't for that incident, though, I wouldn't be here.
Now it was the final test.. We had to pair up and fight each other. Asta paired up with Ba-ha guy. "Oi! Peasant! Let's pair up!" A female voice called out to me. I nodded my head and paired with her. She wore an expensive-looking dress. Must be rich or something. Asta and Sekke were the first group. They walked to the centre. Sekke used Bronze Magic to protect himself. Asta summoned his grimoire which was torn up, and pulled out a huge black sword slicing through the bronze protection. He won that easily...? My mouth was agape. Perhaps, I underestimated him. Next was Yuno. And he won effortlessly. He wasn't even exhausted. Damn...
But enough of admiring, it was now my turn...
