Ch.25: The Restricted Section

Draco's POV:

Late at night Draco paces at the highest point in the observatory tower lost in thought. He worries and panics, he couldn't let anybody know that he was so close with y/n. If somebody found out that he liked him his parents would surely know soon after. He truly has no idea how they would react, especially his father.

He didn't want to fake date a girl but it would be for the best to hide who he truly loves. He realizes that his actions of avoiding y/n is likely what is causing his odd behavior of coming back late and disappearing for hours. He is stuck between people judging him and chasing love but if the Dark Lord made sure he would have his love then he didn't need to worry about his actions.

His mind shifts to another topic. The Death eaters are forming more numbers especially after the attack on Azkaban. He wonders how long it will be till he is called again for a meeting, it's a waiting game at his point.

Draco leans on the railing and stares at the dark eerie clouds causing a shiver down his spine. His eyes wander around the cold night.

Y/N's POV:

In the dead of night most of the paintings are sound asleep. Their snores echoing the hallways. Y/n walks carefully so as to not make a sound while passing them on his way to the library. He found the best way to stay silent was to walk in his socks and hold his shoes and typically if you wanted to use a spell you'd have to say it allowed... which wasn't an option.

Eventually when close enough to the library door and out of hearing range of the paintings y/n whispers as softly as he could to use The Disillusionment Charm. He wasn't very good at it but it was enough to keep him hidden in the dark. However in broad daylight it would be easier to spot him.

Following the library's index he tries to find any book involving the mention of Death Eaters or the Dark Lord. Of course there was nothing which means if he really had a chance it would be in the restricted section.

Wand at the ready Y/n reaches the gated door, however it was already unlocked and open. He hesitates and peers into the area. Nobody seems to be there so he walks further in.

Analyzing the books he finds nothing referring to the Dark Lord but instead finds a book titled "Death Eaters: A guide to understanding them".
Quickly he snatched the book and began running on his toes to exit both the restricted section and the library.

Walking through the halls his charm begins to wear off revealing himself. Luckily the portraits remained asleep. Y/n makes it to his room and before laying down he glances over all of his roommates checking if they're asleep, Draco was the only one not there. When confirmed that the others were asleep he pulls out the book to skim it.

'Are they really that bad? What am I getting myself into?' He thinks to himself.

"Chapter 1: What is a Death Eater?

Death Eaters are Wizards or Witches who serve the Dark Lord. Typically wearing dark cloaks and masks hiding their identities. They look for power and control over most with Pure-bloods being at the top of the ranks just below the Dark Lord himself. Death Eaters also want to have control over muggles (non magic individuals). Death Eaters have a signature tattoo/calling card on their forearms. It is of a skull and snake, it is called the Dark Mark. Death Eaters gain this tattoo from the Dark Lord himself when officially joining his ranks.

The dynamic of Death Eaters and the Dark Lord himself is straight forward. He gives them what they desire in return for loyalty to achieve power above all and the Dark Lord's immortality."

He only read the first page but Y/n was already convinced that he was interested. He was well aware of their extremities of hurting and killing others but yet it didn't seem to bother him after reading.

The creak of the door being opened alerted Y/n. Snapping the book shut he slides it under his mattress to hide it. He covers his body and pretends to sleep. Draco walks in and heads for the shared bathroom.

Y/n's body relaxes enough to allow him to think about all his encounters with the Dark Lord and the book. 'He really didn't seem all that bad, personally.." he thought as he drifted to sleep.
