It was the beginning of winter, the air was chilly with a breeze that was followed by white speckled snow. Y/n sat in the empty living-room staring at the burning wood that crackled in the fireplace. The carpet he had himself sat upon was a dark red with a rough texture. The 6 year old boy gazed around the room, his eyes focusing on the high ceiling then the dark oak furniture. Y/n's body flinched at the sound of three knocks at the nearby front door.

Before the boy could react, the door calmly and slowly opened, which let the cold breeze from outdoors creep into the house causing the now diminishing fire to die out to just smoke. An older woman stepped into the manor, her eyes bolting to the boy. Her hair was gray and in a messy bun along with this she had multiple necklaces and rings which matched her dark purple pantsuit. Her skin was incredibly pale, just enough to see her light blue veins on her forehead.

Both the boy and the woman stared at each other for what felt like minutes, the woman smiled showing off her maroon lipstick and gapped teeth. Her heels tapped the hardwood floor as she walked up to y/n, then she crouched down to be at eye level. Her smile faded and there was despair in her eyes as she whispered
"Go pack your things my boy, only take what's important to you."

The small boy's eyes looked the woman up and down and noticed a peculiar pin on her chest which read "Ministry of Magic". He quietly got to his feet and adjusted his formal looking attire. Y/n walked to the grand staircase and up to his bedroom, he grabbed a small trunk and began to fill it with clothes. He looked around his bedroom to find what toys he thought were essential, he ended up grabbing a small stuffed panda bear which he kept clutched to his side. Standing at the door to get one last look at his room, he then turned off the lights and closed his door. Walking down the staircase with light thuds as he dragged his trunk behind him, the woman was now waiting beside the door.

The two walked through the snow, y/n's cheeks began to tingle with light specks of pink appearing from the cold. The woman grabbed the trunk and shoved it into the back compartment of the car, then opened up a door to the backseat as she let y/n climb in. She then herself got into the driver's seat, with a few button clicks and a pull of a lever the car started to levitate and turn invisible from anybody outside of the car. The boy's face never changed from the blank expression, half closed eyes and no smile. He kept his eyes glued to the floor the whole time he stayed in the car.

The engine started to die down as the woman pulled up in front of a large light gray building. She got out and let the boy hop out of the car as well. She led him inside the large building where thousands of men and women seemingly appeared out of thin air from small boxes attached to the walls. She took the boy's hand and guided him through the crowd to a cramped elevator. Y/n could hear the several adults in the elevator talking and even staring at him, he knew what this was about but yet he still tuned them all out. He was in his own world in his head, a world where he didn't have to face what was yet to come.

The elevator dinged and all of the adults including the boy walked out into the hall and down to a door at the end of it. The two adults walked in as the older woman once again crouched down and adjusted y/n's tie. She sighed and softly spoke
"My dear boy, remember, you must speak the truth in there-"
She was cut off by the boy.
"What is your name?"
The woman paused and looked surprised to hear him speak out.
"..Serenity."
The boy nodded and signaled that he was ready to face the nightmare behind the door.

Serenity pushed open the door which led to a circular room with a single chair in the middle. She walked y/n to the chair and helped him get into it comfortably. Y/n's eyes adjusted to the lighting of the room compared to the dark corridor, his gaze fell upon a man sitting across from him on a judges stand. He looked around more and more and saw what he believed to be a jury. The older gentleman in the judge's seat cleared his throat and not long after the trial began.

"Y/n Travers, we have brought you in here today as a witness to the murder of Cassidy Travers, your mother. We need you to tell us what you saw that night." The older man said clearly and loudly.
Y/n's eyes got watery and he looked down at his hands which were fidgeting. He spoke with small stutters.

"I saw Momma in her study.. with Papa. She was mixing stuff in a black pot.."
Y/n's eyes looked back up to the man when he noticed in the corner of his eye that his father was in the room. Though something was unusual about him, his arm. Y/n looked at a seemingly fresh black tattoo on his forearm, it had a snake and a skull. Nervous, y/n shook his head and looked at the judge.

"I saw him put something into the pot.. when she wasn't looking. When Momma turned around it exploded. Papa saw me and slammed the door afterwards."
Y/n's fidgeting sped up as sweat dripped from his forehead and the room went quiet.

The father's face soon went red and hot, he began to scream profanities at his son. What shook y/n to his core was when he heard him say "You aren't my son."
Not long after, Wallace Travers, his father, was escorted out of the room. The judge looked down at y/n.

"Your father will be sent to Azkaban, as for you since you have no other living relatives, you will be staying with Madam Serenity until you are old enough to attend Hogwarts, the school for witchcraft and wizardry."

Y/n was excused from his chair, the case wouldn't be over for another hour or so. Serenity took his hand and thus began the new life ahead of him.
