It was a warm day when I met Toothless, I was three years old. Toothless was also a baby dragon, which is why I believe we clicked so fast.

I was awakened by a bright colored light outside my window, the light almost seemed purple but that was impossible because only Night Furies had that color blast and they were extremely rare to find. Intrigued, I walked down the stairs towards the back door and quickly looked for the light. Stumbling while half asleep, Another flash of purple lit up the sky, and I found myself running towards it.

I hid behind a rock so as not to scare the light away. I peeked over the top of the rock and saw a tiny baby dragon in front of me. He was a small little thing, maybe two feet wide and four feet long. He had black scales and green eyes that appeared to allow him to see in the darkness. His ears were a weird shape, curved instead of pointed like normal dragons and he did not appear to have any teeth.

Suddenly he seemed to notice my presence and growl in my direction. Fearful, I stood up showing him my hands as a way to let him know that I am not a threat. He slowly walked at me growling in hopes it scares me off. Instead of running however, I allow him to get close enough to me so that he can reach my hands. Afraid he might bite my hand off, but too prideful to back down, I closed my eyes and stretched out my hand so that it was close enough to him, that if he wanted to be touched by me, he could easily close the distance.

What felt like hours was more likely seconds with my hand stretched out to the dragon. Suddenly the growling ceased, and I felt a warm pressure on the palm of my hands. Still not certain my hand wasn't missing, I slowly opened my eyes, fearing the worst, but I was met with this small dragon placing his head in my hand. Slowly I start to pet him, and soon after that, we are running around with each other, playing and tackling each other and just having fun.

We played for what felt like minutes but was most likely hours, because the sun was awakened, and was spreading beautiful colors across the sky. I knew it wasn't the best idea to take him to my father, so from that night on, every night, after my father fell asleep, I would head outside and we would play until the sun came up. Quickly he became my best friend, helping me through all of the terrible times.

I was quickly awakened by a burning sensation in my foot, and I woke up in a panic. This was how I woke up each night, the dreams I had were never good, and often reminded me of the worst day of my life.

Quickly pushing the memories from my head, I looked up at the end of the cave and realized that it had thankfully stopped snowing. I also realized that I was laying in a pool of my own blood, that was seeping through my armor and in my forgetful mind, I didn't take my mask off before falling asleep.

Not wanting to awaken Toothless, I walked to the edge of the cave, and slowly took my armor off. I peel my mask off of my face feeling the dried blood pulling crackle on my skin. Then after my mask, I pulled my damp gloves off, finger by finger, seeing all of the tears in the leather, and dirt under my fingernails. Next came my elbow pads.My elbow pads always came in handy when making crash landings, the left one was easy enough to take off, just having to be careful to not damage my broken arm more, I pulled the pad off my arm. The right arm proved to be more difficult. Using my left arm was not very easy and proved to be very painful, so I relied on my right arm more, to take it off. Now came my knee pads, They were just slightly larger for my knee for added protection. Taking them off was easy because I was able to use my right arm to get them off. My pants were made out of dragon scales that had fallen out of Toothless skin. The armored pants also seemed to be easy enough, but as soon as I pulled them off, I could see all of the bruising and wounds I had on my legs. The hardest part was the tunic part of my armor. It was fit exactly to my size as a way to diminish pulling and to make it easier to fight in. The tunic was a deep blue and black color, with scales placed all around it, slowly getting smaller and smaller as it reached my waist. Pulling it up was difficult without the use of my left arm, and in the process of getting it off, I somehow managed to push the arrowhead further into my shoulder.

Once the armor was off, I realized just how much blood I had lost. My entire body, and clothes I had on under my armor were not just covered, but were coated in it. Luckily for me, not all of it was mine, because if it had been, I would have surely died. I slowly limped out of the cave looking for a running source of water to wash away all of the blood and dirt.

I came across a small little brook with just enough running water to cover my body when laying down. For some strange reason, looking at the water brought a sense of fear to the back of my mind, but I could not continue on with the blood all over me. Stalling, I decided it was best to start a fire for after I get out of the water, because even if it was not cold outside, once I get out of the water, I will be freezing and faint.

Still feeling faint, I limped slowly to the rushing water. The current was not very strong, but was definitely there, and the water was tepid. I used my good arm to carefully rub the dirt and blood off of my body taking my time so that I did not miss anything.

Once the blood was off of the lower part of my body, I held my breath but could not force myself to shove my head under the water. As I tried to put my face closer to the water, memories of almost drowning in the icy water last night flooded my brain causing me to scream "No!" at the top of my lungs. Realizing my near death experience might have affected me more than I thought, I decided it was best to splash water onto my face and head, instead of submerging myself.

I pulled myself onto the bank, ready to assess the damage to my body. I felt around, and quickly dug my knife into my shoulder where the arrowhead laid. I screamed out in pain as I pushed the blade further into my skin trying to find a vantage point on the stone head. Once I got the blade at the bottom of the stone I pushed at an angle on the hilt of the blade hoping to pry the arrowhead out of my shoulder.

Once I could feel the stone emerging from my skin, I carefully raised my left hand and held down on the hilt of the blade to keep it steady. With my right hand I reached into my skin and carefully but painfully pulled out the stone from my shoulder. The second the arrowhead was released from its flesh enclosure, blood started to pool in the hole the stone left behind. I applied pressure while dropping the metal part of the dagger into the fire.

While letting the metal heat up, I washed the wound in my shoulder, and grabbed a piece of bark that was in my pile of extra wood for the fire.

I placed the bark in my mouth and grabbed the not hot side of the dagger. With a deep breath, I took the dagger and placed the scalding metal to the spot the arrow once was, cauterizing the wound. I bit the bark so hard that I slightly split the inner lining of my mouth on my right side.

Once I was finished, I spit the blood out of my mouth, and finally took a deep breath in.

I made sure to close the other wounds on my body that were bleeding, and wrapped them with medicinal leaves I found in the forest. Once all of this is complete, I allowed myself a second to breathe and listen to the water around me.

Moments later, I look down at my clothes, realizing that they are most definitely stained by the blood, but at least they are not covered in it anymore. I find some long leaves and weave them into a medium sized basket, and fill it with water and fish from the creek to take to Toothless.

Once I reach the cave I find Toothless asleep, but as soon as I walk into the cave, he is awakened by my presence and swiftly runs to me, greeting me. "I missed you too bud" I say to him in a loving tone, "I brought you water and food" I say. Toothless happily accepts the food and water and spends the next few minutes eating and drinking.

While he does this, I decide to wash the very small wound Toothless has, and wrap it in the same leaves that I have wrapped on my wounds.

We spend the entire day just unwinding from the events that happened just a few hours ago, Playing and eventually falling asleep wrapped up next to each other in hopes for a good night's rest.
