My bestest buddy is writing a werewolf book (which is pretty awesome and not cliche by the way) and I was inspired by it to write this poem. Dedicating it to her for that very reason! Hope you like it Berdine! :D

Look to your left
Look to your right
A feeling overwhelms you
Of painful fright
All you can see
Beyond the hills
Are bloodied bodies
Of the people you've killed
One moment your a soldier
Fighting in the war
Next second your out
Cold on the floor
Hours later
You can tell from the moon
You wake up to this
This scene of gloom
You feel confused
Your stomach is cramped
You thought you were dreaming
You thought you were camped
But there's blood on your chin
Under your nails
And all over your skin
Like in folk tales
It hits you again
The realization
It really was you
Who slayed the battalion
You scream at the sky
In hopes of response
But you hear nothing
It's you that they taunt
The urge to run
Rushes through
The night is calling
And it's calling for you
You feel something pop
Bend and twist
Reeling over with pain
You cringe with a hiss
Your hearing increases
Your face starts to crack
You glance towards the forest
What was calling you was your pack
The feeling of freedom
And just sheer power
Overwhelms your senses
And your height towers
In just a few moments
You are reborn
Now you're the monster
That all beings scorn
You howl at the moon
Kill all of the hunt
You and your pack
Every day of the month
Only after
Years of killing
Did you become
Not so willing
You tried to run
From your pack
After several tries
You made it back
You thought to yourself
Once you had room to breath
You can check out any time you like
But you can never leave
