Harry felt betrayed. Like, betrayed to the maximum extent. Harry had known he was gay since he was in 5th grade when he got a crush on one of the guys in his class. He came out to Louis soon after, because he knew that Louis would never judge and he needed someone to assure him that his parents would never judge him.
After he had stormed out of the car he realized he might have overreacted a tad bit. For heaven's sake he didn't even let Louis explain himself. But then again, what was there to explain? He had lied to him for years, let Harry believe that Eleanor was his actual girlfriend, and didn't tell him a huge part of his life. They share everything with each other. They tell each other more than they tell their own parents. Louis broke that trust and bond.
He was in a mood the whole day, and barely paid attention in any of his classes. When it was time for lunch, he was dreading it because he normally sat next to Louis. He needed to find Niall and Liam. They have the same class right before lunch.
Harry ran to their classroom, "Liam! Niall!" he called.
Their heads snapped towards him as they were exiting the classroom, "Harry? What are you doing here?"
"What, I can't come see my friends?" Harry asked.
"Yes you can but you were about to see us at lunch and you never come to walk with us. What happened?" Liam said.
"Right. Um, well me and Louis got into a fight this morning and I don't want to sit next to him at lunch, so can you two sit next to me today?" Harry practically begged.
Niall furrowed his eyebrows, "Of course we can. What was the fight about?"
"He didn't tell me something, it's not my place to tell you. I highly doubt that he would want me to tell you guys if he didn't even want to tell me. How couldn't he tell me something so big?" Harry wailed.
"Okay, well I can't tell you why since I don't know what it is - not that I'm asking you to tell me what it is - but I'm sure he had a good reason," Liam tried to comfort him.
"Well I know what it is, and there's no good reason to hide something like that from me. If anyone would understand him and not judge him for something like that, it would be me," Harry said, "Eleanor and Zayn are the only two people that know."
"Why would he tell Zayn and not you?" Liam asked.
"That's what I want to know!" Harry exclaimed.
They made it to the cafeteria and Harry sat in between Liam and Niall, with Zayn, Louis, and Eleanor next to Liam in that order. It was a circular table, so it placed Harry right across from Louis, but it was better than right next to him. Harry could see the look of hurt in Louis' eyes but he couldn't care less. He could also feel Eleanor's eyes on him but he didn't even want to look her way at the moment.
Liam and Zayn were whispering about something, probably the drama between Louis and Harry. The tension was so thick in the air because it was so awkward for Louis and Harry to be fighting.
Niall whispered, "Harry, I think you should at least talk to Louis and hear his side of the story. Did you try that this morning?"
"No but I don't want to," Harry said stubbornly.
"Look, I don't want you guys to lose your friendship over something like this. Yes, I get it, I don't know what information he withheld from you, but I think you're overreacting a little bit," Niall scolded him.
"I know I'm overreacting, but-" Harry tried saying, but Niall interrupted him.
"You know you're overreacting! Great! Go talk to him now, hear him out!"
"Noo," Harry whined.
"Look, the downfall of your guys' beautiful friendship and maybe more is going to be because of one of your guys' stubbornness. Just listen to him and what his reasoning was. He could've been doubting himself, not you, and Eleanor and Zayn could've just accidentally found out," Niall said. He actually had a pretty good point. What if Louis couldn't accept his sexuality? And he knew Eleanor needed to know, but Zayn could've accidentally caught them talking about their fake relationship or something.
Niall smiled, "Ooh, I see that look on your face. The one where you realize that I'm right and you're wrong. Now I'm going to put you two in a closet so you can talk it out."
"What? No! Don't do that!" Harry exclaimed. Too late.
Niall hoisted him up and dragged him over to Louis' side of the table, hoisted Louis up, dragged them both to the janitor's closet down the hallway with lots of protests from Harry. Who knew Niall was this strong? Maybe all that food that he ate did something for him.
The door was shut and Louis and Harry were trapped in the dark closet. Harry stayed silent.
"Harry," Louis breathed, "Please let me explain."
"Fine, what excuses do you have ready this time?" Harry asked.
"I don't have excuses. All I have are the thoughts that were going through my brain at the time. It's up to you whether you believe me or not," Louis said.
"Well I probably would have a much easier time believing you if you hadn't kept such important information from me in the first place," Harry countered.
Louis sighed, "That's true. I don't even know why I didn't want to tell you. I don't have any reasonable explanation for that. I guess I just didn't want to tell anyone my sexuality if I didn't have to."
"But you told Eleanor and Zayn! I understand Eleanor, but why Zayn instead of me?" Harry choked out.
"I didn't tell Zayn! Remember that morning where I broke down when you called Eleanor my girlfriend? And when he asked to talk to me in private?" Louis asked.
"Yes..." Harry said, wanting Louis to continue.
"Zayn pulled me aside to ask me if I was really dating Eleanor. He said that we don't show any PDA and act more like best friends than a couple, and I wouldn't break down over her and then be only consolable by her. It didn't add up," Louis said.
"Oh..." Harry said, not sure what to say.
Louis took both his hands into his, "Harry. I love you so so much. I felt so guilty for not telling you. This morning when you stormed out I thought and I thought and I couldn't come up with a good reason for not telling you. I don't want to keep stuff from you. My life is so messed up and sometimes I do stupid things, like not telling you stuff. God knows that you're the only one I truly trust. Harry I can't live without you. Please forgive me."
Harry broke and hugged Louis while sobbing into his shoulder, "Of course I forgive you, I was just so hurt because I thought you felt you couldn't tell me."
"Of course I felt I could tell you," Louis said. They stayed there, hugging each other for a few more minutes before deciding to return to lunch. Harry felt relieved that he wasn't in an active fight with Louis anymore. It always pained him whenever they had a fight.
"I see the lovebirds have made up!" Niall exclaimed when they came back with smiles on their faces. Harry and Louis both blushed and returned to their spots and smiled at each other for the rest of lunch.
