I wake up confused, the room dark, and laying next to a body. I piece together some memories from last night and quickly make sure I am not fully undressed. I panic. "Felix!" I start shaking him awake.
"Jesus fuck maeve, what?"
"Did we have sex????" I panic, as if it would be the end of the world. But it wouldn't be honestly.
"maeve, no we didn't. jesus go back to sleep." He sighs placing his pillow over his head. I realize right then and there if something were to happen between us i think it would ruin our friendship.
I am back in my dorm where india is nowhere to be seen, I quickly undress from his shirt and pants and hop into the shower. Bloody hell, it is so hot that I am taking a cold shower. My phone starts buzzing as I am half way thru conditioning my hair.
I pick up, "Hello?"
"Come meet with us, we are by the field." India says quickly. "don't wear too many layers." "wear absolutely nothing." "Oh shut up farleigh." She hangs up giggling before I can even put in another word. I quickly rinse my hair off and my body and hop out the shower.
I begin walking and I see the whole group sitting down on the grass under a tree. Farleigh next to Ollie, Ollie next to India, and of course... India next to Felix, "Of course the late one, always." Farleigh and his snarky attitude, his way of showing love.
"Come sit down." Ollie says, patting his hand down next to him. To my right India and Felix flirting away of course. Something about it makes my skin boil. I can barely hear what they are chit chatting about. But what about last night, about him not wanting to be near her. I must've spaced out because India starts waving her hand at me. "Coradelia." She begins to snap at me. I snap back to reality.
"Sorry oh my." We both begin to giggle. For the next two hours we just sat and talked until it began to be a little bit too unbearable to be outside. "One last night at the pub?" Farleigh asks.
"Hell yeah!" India says latching herself onto farleigh.
"Wouldn't be fond of it." Felix adds. ," what do you say about it maeve?" I look up at him and shake my head. "What no come on maevey, you have to."
"I am not feeling good, i think i'll pass." I lied. "Fine then." Farleigh, india and ollie continue on. Felix slowly following behind them. He turns towards me. "Maeve, what are you doing this summer?"
"Uhm- going back home, sleeping- pretty much nothing, why?"
"well why don't ya come home with me," He looks down at me,"come to saltburn." He smiles, holding onto both my hands.
Two days go by, I have just finished packing and it seems india has already left home. I grab my last bag from my room and felix whos been waiting outside alongside ollie and fareligh. "Come on let's go."
"You and venetia will get along so well." Felix says. "Oh and my mum is going to love you."
"Oh she already does, felix talks about you to her a lot." Farleigh giggles.
"Shut up farleigh." Felix says punching him softly on his shoulder.
The drive to saltburn wasn't too bad of a drive. But was definitely a trip. The whole ride there ollie and felix were practically having a sing off. As we arrive, both ollie and I's expressions are quite literally the same. Felix giggling and farleigh joins, "don't worry guys, it's bigger than it looks." The estate of this place is beautiful, very amusing to the eye.
"Beautiful isn't it?" Felix says, pulling his sunglasses up to his head. I nod as we enter inside.
