Eight ✶ Tongue Tied

"Honey come on, you'll be late!" Hana shouted from the living room, putting her boots on. They'd both agreed to leave an hour and a half from her flight in case there was any traffic or complications with her boarding.

Neomi triple-checks everything she packed in her suitcase like she always did when she was young. "That suitcase better be closed when I get there or I'm shoving you in there so you could check your things multiple times," her mother says with mockery in her tone. She groans as she zips up her suitcase and puts the sliders into the lock.

Hana's fast footsteps were heard outside then she barged into the room, the door now wide open and her daughter shoving all her needed things into her handbag except for her headphones and phone.

"Well done my amazing daughter now let's go!" Neomi rolled her eyes once her mom complimented and teased her at the same time before the suitcase was dragged out of the room.

She groans softly as she double-checks her room and the bathroom for anything she might've forgotten while her mother runs outside to their car, leaving the front door open. She scoffs as she takes the keys and leaves their apartment.

It wasn't that she didn't love having a fun young mom but at some times, Hana just needed to be reminded who was the parent here.

"Neo, did you get the house keys?" The woman shouts as she walks to the door of the driver. Neomi just raises them and she smiles.

The car ride was extremely fast. She didn't know if it was because there were fewer cars on the road or because her mother was going over the speed limit.

Once they arrived at the airport, Hana was now the one double-checking everything. She knew her daughter was responsible with her things and did not forget anything she needed — and that's what she hated.

"You're all good kiddo," She pats her daughter's shoulder with a proud smile on her face. Neomi fixes her jacket and then places her handbag on top of her luggage. "You stay safe alright." Now rubbing her daughter's shoulders comfortably and the girl looks up at her with a small smile.

"I'll see you mom!" The young girl walks towards the entrance but stops in her tracks as she forgets something. She turns around, Hana watching her leave with a sappy smile and she waves at her. Neomi runs back to her mom and wraps her arms around her waist, surprising her. "I'm gonna miss you, thank you so much."

The side of Hana's lips curl up as she takes in her daughter's embrace. She rubs circles on her back before she lets go, "I love you, mom." She says before running back to her suitcase.

"I love you too!" Hana shouts, not caring about all the other people passing by.

IM ABOUT TO LAND I SWEAR

As soon as Neomi sends the message to her friend, the pilot announces to put their seatbelts back on and stay in their seats. She looks outside the window and she finally sees the track where the plane is gonna land.

The dark-haired girl rushes out of the plane the moment it landed. Her headphones fell from her head to her neck as she jogged to the baggage claim area. While she waited for her suitcase to be on the conveyor belt, her phone rang.

Charlie was calling her.

A smile immediately makes its way to her face before answering. The phone was at a low angle when the video call popped up, showing Charlie's prominent jawline, not even noticing that the girl had already answered.

"Hey pookie," She teased which grabbed his attention, bringing his phone up with a smile on his face. Sofia sees this reaction and keeps it in mind for future purposes but doesn't miss the chance to nudge Brady beside her to let him know what is happening. "Missed me so much you had to call me?"

Charlie snickers, looking away from the camera with a smile on his face. "Did you land already?" He asks as he sets down the phone on the table. She hums in response.

"I'll go over there, gate 4 right?" As he speaks, he takes his phone and gets up. Mason and Sofia still had chunks of pizzas in their mouths and did not bother to go with him.

Neomi grabs her suitcase from the baggage carousel. "Yep, it is! See you soon, Charlie!" The call ended but the smile on his face remained. He slides his phone in his pocket, letting out a breath.

"You guys can just follow behind alright or one of you can stay, I don't know." He says in a rush before leaving the rest of his friends. There was a fuzzy feeling in his stomach, the thought of seeing her again after two weeks. Others may find it insane to already miss your co-worker for that long but they had been together and seeing each other nonstop 24/7 for two months straight.

When Charlie got there, he was in search of her. Her head was up the whole time just to find him quickly. She could already imagine everything they would do around the city during this time. After all, New York was the city of love during the winter.

As he finally catches her, he calls out for her. "Yoshida!" His hands surrounded his mouth to make his voice louder. She turns toward his voice and her eyes light up.

"Charlie!" She exclaims and runs to him, leaving her suitcase behind. He wraps his arms around her as she jumps onto him. Her legs were wrapped around his waist while she hugged him tightly. He spins them around just like he did at the 'Missing Piece' party, the girl giggling as she held onto him tightly.

Strangers would think this would only happen in movies and that these kids would be recreating a scene if they did something like that in public but if their friends saw this, they'd know that they were secretly in love with each other.
