𝗜𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀𝗻'𝘁 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗱 day in Connecticut just yet but Leilani still found herself bundled up in her black Lululemon zip-up and leggings as she left the campus gym and walked to her first and only class of the day, planning to head to work shortly after.

Leilani worked as one of the only hairstylists on campus, the next closest being a good half hour away. On top of that, she did everything. Braids, installs, sew-ins, lineups, re-twists, silk presses, haircuts, and color. Whatever you needed it's was a guarantee that Leilani could do it for you. Because of that she built up quite a large clientele— from both teachers and students.

Homecoming would be in a couple days, as well as media day for the men and women's basketball teams in a two weeks so she booked almost everyday until the beginning of october. She definitely had her work cut out for her.

But putting that on the back burner, she continued her walk to Beach Hall, waving and greeting classmates as she went before finally getting to the large brown doors.

"Thank you!" She smiled at the older man that heals the door open for her before making a sharp left in the direction of her lecture hall.

It was quite common for the girl to get to her classes early, gave her time for some peace before getting ready to take notes, take an exam, work on a project. Today was no different.

Leilani entered the room of her Intercultural Studies course to be greeted by Professor Avery, a red-headed woman in her mid 50's, the best teacher Leilani had probably ever had.

"You're early." The woman mumbled, taking a sip from her tea.

"I'm always early." Leilani pointed out before scanning the room for a seat. Close to projector because she had poor eyesight, but far enough that she could be comfortable in her seat without judgment.

"Oh of course, I meant earlier than normal. You were excited to see me today huh?" Professor Avery had a smile on her face as she teased. Avery thought Leilani was one of the brightest students she's taught in a very long time, and on top of the fact that she was always eager to add to her knowledge made her even more likable.

"I'm always excited to see you Miss Avery."

"Well it's actually good that you're here now, I had a favor I wanted to ask of you."

Leilani mentally cringed as she hoped this favor didn't involve grading papers or running to her office all the way on the other side of the building. "Sure, what do you need?"

"I have a freshman in my psychology class that I think might be struggling a little bit," she started, "and I know you're a busy lady, but I was wondering you could take maybe a few hours this week to tutor her a bit? She is totally open to it, and you passed with flying colors last year."

In her mind, Leilani scanned through her schedule the rest of the week, it was packed. She probably only had a few hours of free time to possibly dedicate to tutoring and it would come in the very early hours of the day or very late hours of the night.

She would decline, but she felt bad. So instead she said: "I could probably work with her Friday and Saturday."

"Really! That would be great!" Leilani liked the smile that formed on her face, sensing a weight had been lifted off her shoulders.

"Yeah it's no problem, you could give her my number and I'll communicate with her." Leilani shrugged it off, leaning over and writing her phone number on a sticky note before handing it to Professor Avery.

"You're such a sweetheart. Thank you Miss Kennedy."

"It's really no problem, I'm happy to help."

𝗣𝗮𝗶𝗴𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝘁 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗮 sound of approval as she got a glimpse of the teams new navy uniforms for the season.

To say she was excited for senior season was an understatement. Paige saw her teammates as sisters and not being able to play last season took a toll on her mental health. She spent a lot of days at home, off the internet, not responding to people.

But getting over that hump and finally feeling like herself again, as well as getting cleared for this new season made all the pain worth it.

She put on the uniform then headed over to the mirror, taking one of her signature mirror photos before hearing KK Arnold enter the locker room on the phone.

"Thank you again, so much. I'll see you Friday!" She spoke very enthusiastically before hanging up. "Wait! P we got new unis?"

All the girl could do was laugh at her teammates complete obliviousness.

"You just don't listen when coach talks, do you?"

"Twin he's mad at me right now, I'm basically failing Psychology." KK admitted, embarrassingly scratching the back of her neck.

"You gotta get a tutor or something." Paige said, "failing before the season even starts is crazy."

"I know that! That's why I went a got one, she's coming by on Friday."

If Paige was a dog, her ears would've perked up. "She? You think your tutor has a boyfriend... or girlfriend?"

Kamorea sent her a lethal side eye, "you're so unserious. I'm not letting you get at my tutor. And what happened to getting out of the streets?"

"I am! Who says I don't have good intentions?"

"Me. I say you don't have good intentions."

"Girl please. It's lover girl season!" Paige smiled, heading back to her locker, getting ready to finally get out the gym.
