𝗪𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗱 house party with Shyanne on her arm, Leilani was immediately bombarded by people she had never seen in her life. It was briefly overwhelming but when she saw Shyanne smile and greet all of them with a hug the feeling quickly subsided.

"Hey! You finally made it!" The first girl spoke. She was around Leilani's height, no taller than 5'7, jet black hair with green highlights and layers that framed her face. She had a brace faced smile, and while she seemed very sweet, she was very very drunk.

"Yeah, we had to take care of something right quick." Shyanne said, looking off at Leilani with a small smirk which made the girl roll her eyes in return.

"Oh you must be Leilani! I'm Skyla, nice to meet you!" The girl immediately embraced her in a hug.

"Nice to meet you too!" Leilani smiled back, surprised at the sudden act but still very appreciative that Shyanne's friend was fond of her.

As she walked through the party she saw Shyanne continue to greet people in hugs and handshakes, Leilani becoming more and more as a decoration on her arm rather than a guest she came with. It was shocking how the girl had met so many people on campus when she'd only been at UConn for just a little over a month.

They found a seat on the couch, Leilani joining in conversation with a boy who she learned to be named Nasir. The boy, dark skinned with locs that went all the way to the middle of his back, finding a comfortable seat next to her..

"So, how did you two meet?" He asked, trying to make the girl feel as welcomed as possible. He could pick up on her reserved behavior by the way she was sitting. "Y'all go on a date yet?"

" Um at a party, no date just yet though." Leilani responded, a laugh leaving her lips.

"Classic Shyanne."

The sentence came out very low, so low that Leilani could barely hear it over the music playing through the speakers. She looked over in his direction, an obviously confused look spread across her face. "Whatcha say?"

"Oh it's just a joke we got that Shy don't know how to commit for shit. But we're meeting you right now so that clearly isn't the case."

Now why would he tell me that? Leilani thought to herself. She nodded slowly not giving a verbal response. All of a sudden it hit her, that's why Shyanne was yet to ask her out, she had no intention of being serious with her.

Leilani was overthinking, thinking about all the times they'd hung out at home, gone to the mall, go for drives after class. She thought about all the times throughout the day she spent thinking of her. All for nothing.

She looked over at the girl she came with, seeing her smile as she spoke to her friends. "Shy, I'm finna go get a drink. You want anything?" She leaned over towards the girls ear, getting her attention.
