𝒮eptember sixteenth
County Fairgrounds, Connecticut"𝗧𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝗻𝗼 one told her Lani was your ex." Nika defended Kamorea's act of meeting up with Leilani without Paige's knowledge. She wasn't mad, she didn't like being surprised though.
At the moment every word that left her teammates mouth in the midst of conversation went in one ear and out the other. She had completely zoned out and had her eyes on Leilani, as she talked and laughed with Ryan and Zariah. Looking intently at her smile. The way her entire face lifted and here eyes got brighter, if that was even possible.
"KK, it's okay. I don't mind it at all." She jumped in, looking back and forth between her friend and her ex-lover.
KK peeped it immediately. Smirking at Paige's expression and deciding it was only best to tease her. "Oh word? 'Cause you staring at her hella hard right now, P."
Kissing her teeth, Paige walked away, already knowing how her teammates would drag out this conversation.
"You might as well give Lani her face back!" Nika laughed.
"Go talk to her, don't be weird." Azzi said, following behind the blonde. "And she doesn't hate you so don't even give me that lame ass excuse."
Azzi's hand gently met the small of Paige's back, pushing her in Leilani's direction. She had decided the awkwardness that had occurred over the last 15 minutes had to be dealt with immediately.
Leilani stood rolling her eyes at Aubrey's excuse for losing yet again, not even entertaining it anymore. "Girl bye. You're just ass, and that's okay!"
She could see the tall blonde walking her way, hoping she just wanted to talk to Aubrey rather than herself. But when Aubrey moved out of the way, and came up with a last minute excuse as to why she was leaving, Leilani immediately felt nervous. After their brief encounter the day before she was sure any possible relationship between them was dead.
She watched the girl adjust her glasses on her face, pulling her black hood over the two french braids on her head. Paige awkwardly cleared her throat, wiping down her palms before speaking. "Can we talk?"
Leilani nodded, feeling all of their friend's eyes on them and tilting her head in the direction of the picnic benches a few yards away. Giving them a chance for a secluded intimate conversation.
"What you wanna talk about, P?" Leilani asked while taking a seat. Her eyes meeting Paige's bright blues.
The only person in the world that knew how to beat Paige at her own eye contact game was— oddly enough— Leilani.
"I'm sorry. I know it's definitely a year too late, and you probably hate me, but—"
"I don't hate you Paige. I was mean to you yesterday, and I didn't mean to be, but I don't hate you. I promise." Leilani clarified.
