Ships: Javid (Finally something that isn't just Sprace) I know this starts out sounding like it's Jack and Sarah but I swear it's not, no offense but I kinda hate them together.-
"Hey, Jack!" Sarah said happily, swinging around the doorframe of the Newsboys Lounge. "Davey's starting a game of truth or dare with some of the other boys. Wanna join?"
"Uh- Sure, Sarah, give me a sec..."
Jack quickly tied his red bandana loosely around his neck, attempting to look presentable before calmly following Sarah outside. David, Les, Racetrack, Spot, Crutchie, Specs, Boots, Mush, and Blink were all sitting in a circle. Jack sat down as well and found himself wedged between David and Sarah, and for some reason he felt strange being so close to David. He'd always felt this way around David, yet never put his finger on it... but that wasn't important.
"Can I go first?" Racetrack's voice shattered Jack's thoughts. Everyone quietly nodded and he turned to Crutchie with an evil grin. "Hey Crutchie... Truth or Dare?"
"T-Truth." Crutchie stammered, knowing Racetrack was merciless with dares.
"Oh, come on! You're no fun... Fine- Who's your favorite person in this room?"
"I- I like all of you! But if I have to pick, probably Jack, because he's my best friend."
Jack smiled warmly as Crutchie turned to David. "Truth or dare, Davey?"
"Truth."
"Do you like anyone?"
David looked uncomfortable, but took a deep breath and nodded. "Yes."
"Really?!" Les shouted. "Who?!"
"Hey, it's one question, and he never asked who!" David playfully protested. "Jack, truth or dare?"
Jack decided he really didn't like the direction the truth questions were going in. "Dare."
David smirked, glancing at Sarah. "I dare you to kiss the most beautiful person in this room."
"Really, Davey?" Jack asked, with an almost nervous edge to his voice.
David shrugged. "No harm in getting Sarah a free kiss."
Jack felt sick as he heard this, as it dawned on him that he didn't find Sarah as the most attractive person in the room. And all at once, it clicked what that feeling he had for David was. Feeling brave- or foolish, depending- he decided to take the boldest move he ever had.
"You're really gonna hate me for this-"
In all about 10 seconds, not even, he ran up to David, kissed him square on the lips, and ran into the Newsboys lounge, locking the door behind him as he heard muffled shouting from outside. He wasn't sure if he should celebrate what he just did or break down crying, but he was at least certain of one thing- David and Sarah both probably hated him.
A good three minutes passed, each second making Jack's anxiety grow. Had he just lost his best friend? Just as he thought it was over, he heard pounding on the door, and David's muffled voice.
"...Jack? I know you went here."
"Go away."
"I'm not mad at you, please... Let me in."
Fine, Jack thought. I might as well entertain what little bit of this friendship lasted through that.
Slowly, he walked over and opened the door with a shaking hand, and saw David there. He wasn't mad, nor upset... in fact, he seemed... Happy?
"Davey? I'm so sorry for-"
Before he could finish, he was cut off with a hug.
"I love you, Jack."
Well, that was the last thing he was expecting to hear. "...What?"
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you."
Jack pushed him off. "Don't play with me like this, David. I know what I did was stupid, but you don't have to-"
"I'm being serious."
Jack stopped in his tracks. "You're actually serious? No way... But how? Why tell me this now?!"
"Because it's obvious you like me back. That and you effectively ditched my sister."
"I- I love you too, but what the hell?! You really couldn't have said anything beforehand?!"
"I was afraid, okay?! You didn't say anything either!"
That was a fair point. Jack sighed and hugged David again.
"So do the others think I'm weird now? Do they hate me?"
"Jack, your our leader. They'd never hate you. They all encouraged me to come confess to you, actually."
"...Really?"
"Really."
