"what uh- now?!" the satyr asked the blonde boy
"yeah my dads going to meet me there!" the blonde one said smiling
"uh- one- uh- theres one problem with that..." Annabeth rubbed the back of her head
"the cops are after us..." Grover sighed
"The cops! the- are after us?" Percy said in shock
"yeah seaweed brain, they think we did that!" Aura pointed to the flaming arch.
"oh no." percy sighed
"come on lets just walk..." Aura grabbed annabeths hand and started walking.
When the four had made their way- about 2 miles, they saw a car, a motorcycle-and Auras first instinct was to run.
"run! theres a cop!" the blonde girl said hiding behind the thing on the side of the road.
"its a motorcycle Aura... and- Its coming straight to us!" Annabeth ran behind Aura.
As the rest of the group started to panic and follow auras instinct, as they all say down behind the thing on the side of the road, Percy realized that the girl next to him was stressing.
"listen it doesnt have to be a thing you know- that you hugged me..." he smiles
The blonde girl rolled her eyes as the motorcycle stopped on the side of the road causing Aura to turn around and look over the barrier they were behind
"do you guys need some help.." the cyclist asked the four
"no- were uh- were good...." Aura looked over the barrier in confusion as the cyclist took off his helmet
"are you sure aura?" the cyclist asked
"Ares..." she sighed signaling it's okay to stand up.
"hello Aura.." he smiled "and the other three. wait your my cousin..." he pointed at percy
"may we help you..." Aura rolled her eyes
"just meet me at the diner up the road and ill tell you how you can help me.." The god grinned at the four.
As the four arrived at the diner Ares was talking about they saw Ares, with a stack of hamburgers, and his phone in hand.
"hello? Grover asked the god as they sat down
"one second, im just starting a fight on twitter...." he put his phone down
"okay so how must we help you Ares..." Annabeth rolled her eyes
"listen... i know something you four. dont." he grinned at them "your quest- is going to fail ask me how i know"
"you dont know anything Ares." Aphrodites daughter scoffed through her teeth
"our quest wont fail." Percy looked mad, pissed.
"sure it will, for starters- watch." he pulled out his phone putting on a video of a really ugly man
"thats my, stepdad." percy said as the video played
"yeah so, first off police are after you and now people believe you killed your mom." Ares smiled
"im going to kill him." percy gritted through his teeth
"and i knew i was going to like you." Ares smirked at the boy. "listen, no matter if you get that bolt or not, zeus and Poseidon are going to war." Ares smiled
"but, the oracle said-" Percy started getting cut off
"Is that what the oracle said, or what chirom said it meant." Ares questioned the kids "you're new to the family young one, so let me fill you in on how we work. see years before i was born, my grandpa kronos ate my aunts and uncles. yeah, then my dad made him puke them back up, then chopped him into a million pieces and chucked him into a bottomless pit so that kinda set the tone right out of the gate." Ares looked at percy
"what do you mean?" percy was obviously confused
"olympians fight, they betray, they backstab" Aura sighed.
"we will push anyone down a flight of stairs to get ahead and that's why i love my family so much. my dad knows he's not getting this bolt back with quests or goose chases, he knows there's a war coming and in reality, I think he's okay with that. i think he feels it's just time for a war so we're gonna have a war." Ares smiled "its gonna be great..."
"listen no matter what, we are getting that bolt" percy said to Ares
"you said we could help, how can we help you, so you help us." Grover said looking at Ares
"okay, so here it is there's an amusement park up the road." ares started. "i left my shield there you get me my shield back and i'll get you to the underworld by lunch tomorrow."
"oh you left your shield on the swingset?" Annabeth smiled at him
"listen smart mouth, its getting old." he slammed his hands down on the table "and by the way, im keeping the goat and the smart mouth here, i would keep that one, but i cant stand her"
"fine." Aura stated grabbing percys hand and walking out of the diner
"what the hell!" percy asked
"listen, if we didnt agree he would have just killed us all, and if he wanted to kill them he would have before." Aura rolled her eyes "listen percy when we were standing infront of the arch i saw these old ladys cutting string..." she stated as they walked
"okay?" he asked very confused
"they were the fates, and when that happens it means one of us is going to die, very soon." she sighed as the arrive at the amusement park
"no that cannot be right. percy looked over at her, then back at the machine in front of him,
"just go!" she pushed him in
"uh im stuck...." he stared at the girl as she analyzed the machine
"no just keep pushing through the thing..." she sighed realizing what god built this amusement park.
