Chapter 26

It was strange for Alex, having Derek there with her was weird. They had both been sleeping in Ric's loft when Damon barged in in the morning waking them all up.

"What?" She groans, simply shouting from her bed as Damon walks into her room, pulling the sheets off her body. She speeds over to him and pins him against the wall but he easily flips their positions. "You know, if you wanted to get into bed with me, you only have to ask." 

"I wouldn't want to piss off an Original." Damon counters leaning in closer before pulling away completely.

"You're no fun." Alex whines, beginning to get changed out of her pyjamas as Damon turns around. "What do you want?" He looks back at her to see her halfed dressed.

"God, could you have warned me?" He scoffs.

"I don't care." She simply responds.

"Mikael is at our house, he wants us to drag Klaus back into town. You are a key part of the plan." Damon tells her. "Bring wolfboy too."

"I can hear you." He says through the walls and Damon chuckles as he speeds out of the apartment, leaving Derek and Alex. The pair finish getting changed quickly and Derek takes his car to the salvatore house. Once they get inside they see Elena stood with Damon, Stefan, Rebekah and Mikael.

"Missing a party, huh?" She asks as she makes her way down the main steps. "So what are we doing? Saying Mikael tried to kill elena, we daggered him and ask Klaus to pick up his body?"

Damon looks at her in disbelief, they had spent and hour prior coming up with a plan and she simply guessed it. "I hate you."

"No you don't." Alex argues.

"So lets say Mikael followed Elena in here. He tried to grab her, so he could use her as bait." Stefan explains.

"And what? Vervained him?" Elena wonders.

"No, we vervained him." Damon says, gesturing to the two vampires and the hybrid. "The guy is an original, we need to make it realistic."

"Okay, fine. We vervained him, and in the process discovered that he had a dagger." Stefan points out.

"Which he planned to use on Rebekah." Alex adds.

"But instead we drove it through his heart." Stefan adds.

"And what happens when he asks to see Mikael's body?" Elena wonders.

"Then the plan is working?" Alex questions. "The whole idea is that he comes back to town."

"He'll want proof." Elena counters.

"Good point, stefan has been compelled to do what klaus says, we don't want him getting tripped up and tongue tied." Damon responds.

"Then i shall be dead." Mikael adds.

"What if he wants to see you in person?" Elena wonders.

"Like the Mutt was saying, the plan is working. Klaus would absolutely want to see my body. You lure him here, and i will kill him." Mikael says, making sure to add an insult to Alex.

"With what? Those daggers won't work on him?" Stefan asks.

"Well, i'm in possession of a stake fashioned from the wood of the ancient white oak tree. The one that left these ashes when it burned." Mikael informs them, showing them the jar of ashes as he dips the dagger into them.

"Where is it?" Alex questions.

"Not here. The knowing of its location is my insurance policy." Mikael walks closer to the group, turning the dagger the other way.
