(Mention of abuse)
Vance walks back to his place the next day. He was exhausted. He so stupidly stayed up last night to keep an eye on the others.
When he got there, his step dad's car wasn't there, which was odd, to say the least. He had a bad feeling lingering around his body.
He opens the door and hears a kind of wailing sound coming from the bathroom.
There was broken glass and spots of blood everywhere. It was a giant mess.
"Griffin?!" Vance opens the bathroom door to see Griffin curled up against the bathtub violently shaking and sobbing. His face was marked red, and he had his eyes shut tightly.
This was all Vance's fault. How could he be so selfish. This had happened because his step dad couldn't let his anger out on Vance, so he did it to Griffin. His own son. His own blood.
"Griff? What happened? Can you tell me?" Vance asked in a hushed voice but loud enough for him to hear, crouching down to his brothers level. He already knew the answer.
"..." He continues to breathe rapidly and ignores Vance's question.
"Griff. Please."
Griffin was repeating something under his breath. Vance couldn't tell what he was saying, so he moved his ear closer to the smaller boys mouth.
"Leave." Vance picked up eventually.
So he did. If Griffin didn't want him around right now, he would respect that.
He goes to his room and throws himself on his bed.
He scrolls through his phone and gets a notification.
'Bruce_yamada2006 has added you as a friend!'
He doesn't think much of it and adds him back.
Bruce sent him a snap, but Vance chose to ignore it and finally go to sleep for a bit.
He gets awoken two hours later to the group chat face timing him.
"What do you guys want?" Vance groans.
"Bro, have you just woke up?" Billy asks like it wasn't obvious by the tone of Vance's voice.
"Yeah, so what?"
"Why? We all just had a sleepover, and you're still tired?" Finney points out.
"He was probably fantasising about Bruce all night!" Robin chuckles loudly and makes kissing sounds with his mouth.
"Oh fuck off." Vance rolls his eyes sarcastically as the other boys laugh at him.
They all talk for a bit before Vance had to leave the call as he heard the front door slam open.
He was back.
"Vance, get your ass here now!"
He sighs and walks down the hallway.
What's the point of disobeying. It would only make it worse.
"What do you want?" Vance crosses his arms and tries not to look intimidated.
"You're failing maths."
"No shit." Vance has always struggled with maths no matter how hard he tries it was just too difficult.
"Maybe if you stopped hanging around with those fags and payed more attention to your school work you wouldn't be failing." He says snidely.
"There not fags they're my friends." Vance speaks through his teeth and clenches his fists.
"Oh please. They're not your friends. They don't like you. No one does."
Vance scoffs. He pushes past his step dad and runs out. His step dad slowly follows but stays in the doorway.
"Where the fuck do you think you're going?!" He yells for the whole park to hear.
"Fuck you!" Vance throws up the middle finger and continues to run.
Where was he going? He doesn't really know. He was just letting his body take him wherever.
He finds himself at Barton Street. It was one of the sketchiest streets around denver.
Drug dealers filled the whole place.
If you were to get killed and someone called the police they would already know where it happened. Vance wouldn't be surprised if it had its own crime rate. This was no place for someone innocent.
"Yo Vance!" Someone calls from behind him.
Great, who's here to bother him now.
He turns around and sees Robin walking with Finney by his side.
"You alright?" Finney looks up at Vance, who looked extremely irritated at something.
"Yeah, you don't look so good." Robin adds on, agreeing with what Finney had just said.
"How about you two fuck off." Vance says through his teeth. He was digging his nails so hard into his skin that his hand was dripping with blood.
"What?" Robin asks, putting his finger up to his ear, wondering if he heard Vance correctly.
"I said fuck off." His step dad was right. They don't like him. What's the point of keeping them if they think he's some horrible monster. It would just be easier for all of them if Vance just left them. That's what Vance thought anyway.
"What's your fucking problem? You seemed fine around thirty minutes ago."
"Because I'm done with your pretending! I know you guys hate me, so just leave me alone!" People around them were staring and most likely eavesdropping.
"Are you fucking high? We've been friends since we were five!" Robin was generally confused about where this has all came from.
"Just leave me alone."
"Whatever, man, see you around." They two smaller boys walk off, leaving Vance by himself, just as he requested.
'Fuck' Vance thought to himself.
He pushed them away just like he does to everyone who actually care about him. He wishes he was different.
He had a sad feeling. No, not sad, angry. He was angry.
which was unfortunate for the random guy walking past because now he was getting beaten the shit out of by Vance and then got mugged.
A/n: slow updates as I feel like shit but hope this was ok. Let me know 🙂
