Monday came around way too quickly.
Vance's thoughts about Bruce did not infact stop and it was eating him alive. It doesn't help that Vance has double art today.
But he would just have to deal with it later.
He was walking Griffin to school. They had to part ways in a few minutes, and Vance was listening to Griffin talk about what happened in his favourite TV show.
They reached the elementary school and had stopped walking.
"Ok buddy," He was interrupted by someone calling his name. He turns around and sees smiling Bruce with his sister by his side.
"Hey Vance." Bruce smiles widely, showing off his perfect teeth.
"Hi." Vance answers back, avoiding eye contact.
"This your brother?" Bruce asks, pointing out the short boy hiding behind Vance.
"Yeah. Griffin, this is my fr- Bruce. This is Bruce." Vance hopes no one had picked up on his slip up, almost calling Bruce a friend.
Griffin nods and sends a small wave Bruce's way.
"Ok, time to go. I'll see you later. Ok?" Vance turns back to Griffin.
"I don't want to go."
Vance crouches down to his brothers level.
"You'll be fine. I promise. If anyone fucks with you, you tell me straight away and i'll deal wth them. How about I make you some pasta later?" Griffin agrees and walks off with Amy by his side.
Vance stands up and continues to walk. Bruce following after him.
"That was really sweet." Bruce says, now walking next to Vance.
"I thought you got the bus?" Vance quickly changes the subject, noticing that this was the first time he had run into Bruce.
"I do, but I just wanted to walk today." Bruce could lie and say it was because of the perfect weather, but the real reason was that he was hoping to see Vance. Over the weekend, Bruce had non-stop thought about Vance. He didn't know why. He told himself that maybe he just really wanted to become his friend. I mean, Vance was cool and strong. To call him a friend would feel great.
"Oh, ok."
"So how was your weekend?" Bruce attempts to start small talk.
"Boring." Vance simply answers.
"Oh." There was a long awkward silence as they kept walking.
"Hi Bruce!" Two girls giggle walking past. That's another reason Vance couldn't like Bruce. He was a ladies' man, and Vance couldn't handle all of the girls swooning over him.
"Hey." He smiles sweetly back at them.
They finally reach the school, and Vance rushes to go somewhere.
"Wait, Vance, where are you going?"
"To the back to smoke."
"Can I come?" Bruce asks hopefully.
"No. See you in art." Vance practically runs to the back exit, leaving Bruce standing there.
Bruce sighs before leaving for homeroom.
The day was longer than he wanted it to be. Vance had skipped art, and Bruce couldn't find him anywhere at lunch it was almost like he had disappeared. Was he trying too hard?
When Bruce was walking out of school, he saw those blonde curls bouncing around in the distance.
He ran to catch up with Vance.
"Hey!" Bruce huffed out.
"What do you want fuck face." Vance kept his eyes forward. Why couldn't Bruce just leave him alone. It would make everything so much easier.
"I just wanted to know if you still need help with maths?" Bruce could smell the strong scent of weed radiating off of Vance. Normally, he would hate the smell, but mixed with Vance's cheap colone, it wasn't too bad.
"Yeah. I guess. But I'm going to the grab n' go." Vance murmurs out.
"That's fine, we can go to yours after you're done." Bruce watches closely as Vance's face fills with panic.
"I don't think you want to come over."
"I don't care what your house looks like, I promise." Vance looks at Bruce, still in a panicked state, but he immediately calms when he interlocks eyes with the other.
He stayed silent until they reached the familiar shop reading 'the grab n' go'.
The door, ringing, notifying that they had arrived, as they both walk in.
Bruce recognises the cashier from the last time who waves at Vance before helping an elderly customer who was the only other person there.
Vance instantly walks to the pinball machine, slipping a quarter into it. Music starts playing. Vance pulls the lever back, and let's go. He spends almost thirty minutes just smashing the buttons before finally losing, Bruce silently watching and admiring Vance's skills the whole time.
"Yo, Evie. Pass me a pack of cigarettes." Vance leans back onto the cold cracked wall beside the pinball machine.
"Vance, my dad won't be happy if he finds out."
"Don't tell him." Vance shrugs, and Evie rolls her eyes before throwing him a pack, which he catches and happily places in his pocket.
"You're really good at pinball. It's awesome!" Bruce smiles, staring at Vance.
"Yeah, I know. They don't call me pinball Vance for no reason." Pinball was the only thing Vance was good at. Without pinball, he would be nothing. He would be useless.
"Wanna have a go?" He already knew Bruce was not going to be anywhere near as good as him, but it would be nice for him to have a go.
"I don't really know how to play."
"It's not that hard. Just pull that lever to release the ball and hit those buttons when it gets near the bottom so you don't lose it." Vance explains, pointing out everything to him.
"Uh, ok." Vance hands him a quarter, and Bruce follows Vance's instructions. It didn't last long about thirty seconds. Bruce face glows in embarrassment, knowing he completely failed in front of Vance.
"That was ok for a first go. It's all a bout timing. Ok, let's try again."
Vance walks behind Bruce, pressing his hands onto Bruce's as the game starts again.
This time, it goes smoother. Vance was guiding Bruce's hands with his own. Bruce could feel Vance's hot breath against the back of his neck. It was incredibly distracting for Bruce, so distracting he wasn't even focusing on the game but only the feeling of Vance being so close. All time seemed to slow.
The ball eventually falls, and Vance removes his hands from Bruce's but remains behind him.
"Shit, that was good, though."
Bruce turns around to face Vance. Bruce looked at his eyes before moving down and stopping at his lips. "Kiss him!" A little voice in the back of his head tells him. He didn't think it through before pulling their lips together. It was incredibly short and simple as Bruce realised what he had just done.
He sees the shocked look playing on Vance's face. Fuck.
He runs out of the shop, not stopping. Even after hearing Vance screaming his name. He doesn't stop until he reaches home.
A/n: did I re-write this 10 times and basically change the whole chapter?
Yes.
Yes I did.
