Seven pm was coming closer. Bruce had changed his outfit, god knows how many times. He didn't really know why he was so nervous. They weren't together. It was just a date. So why did he care so much? Why did he want to impress Vance?
"Shithead." A sudden voice speaks, snapping Bruce out of his thoughts and causing him to practically jump out of his own skin.
"Amy! You scared me!" He clutches his chest and breaths out hard.
"We've been calling you for ages. Dinners ready." Amy says, looking unimpressed. She leaves the room and goes downstairs.
Bruce sighs before looking in the mirror one more time.
He goes downstairs, and everyone is all waiting for him at the dinner table.
"Amy? Do I look ok?" He really needed another opinion on his outfit.
"No, you look like an idiot." Amy giggles at her brother, trying too hard all for a boy.
"Come on." Bruce huffs. He wanted a serious answer from his sister.
"You look fine." Amy rolls her eyes. She really didn't care about anything other than her food right now.
Bruce nods and sits down.
"Why do you even care? It's only dinner, Bruce." Bruce's mother laughs.
"彼はデートに行くつもりです!"
("He's going on a date!") Amy answers, laughing at Bruce as his face grows red.
"A date? Who's the lucky girl?" Bruce's mum grins playfully. She thought it was about time for Bruce to be going out on dates again.
"Uh..." Bruce kind of forgot he never actually told them about liking boys aswell as girls.
"それは白い男の子です."
("It's a white boy.") Amy pretends to cough, outing him out to the rest of his family.
"Amy!" He punches Amy's leg from underneath the table. His face was turning a deep red colour in embarrassment.
Bruce's parents spare a look to each other before looking back at Bruce.
"A boy?"
"That's...new."
"Uh yeah. You guys aren't angry about that, right?" Bruce asks nervously. He honestly didn't know how they would react he just hoped it was ok.
"Of course we're not angry. It's just a shock." Bruce's mum nods her head in agreement.
"Ok." Bruce sinks into his seat, wanting to be anywhere but here right now.
"Uh, what time will you be back?"
"I don't really know."
"Ok. Well, as long as you'll be safe."
They all finish eating and go to the living room to watch tv. Bruce bites on his fingernails apprehensively. He constantly looks back and forth to the clock, awaiting to hear the door knock.
He eventually hears it, and his heart quickens.
"Ok, I'm about to leave." He stands up, his legs immediately feeling weak. He waves a small goodbye.
"Bye Brucey. Don't weird him out." Amy salutes him and laughs.
"Yeah, whatever, bye."
He walks towards the front door and takes a deep breath before opening it and walking out, closing it behind him.
Vance stood there awkwardly silent, looking Bruce up and down. He felt kind of under dressed compared to Bruce.
"Hey." Bruce smiles softly. Vance liked his smile. How it crinkled up his face. How it showed off his dimples. It was cute.
