It's 9:00 am when Jace comes into my room to tell me good morning. "Hey, sleepyhead, you going to sleep all day on Christmas?" "No, I'm ready to get up," I tell him. "Good because I have a whole day planned for us." "Really? What's the plan," I ask him. "Well I promised to teach you how to snowboard, so that's what we'll be doing." "That sounds amazing! Before that, I have a Christmas present for you." I get up and walk to the closet and pull out the gift-wrapped box and hand it to Jace. He opens it up and just stares. "Oh my God, Mila. This is amazing. I can't believe you got this for me." He takes it out of the box and puts it on his wrist. "I love it. Wait here. I have something for you." He gives me a big hug before leaving my room. He comes back and hands me a small, wrapped box. "Is this for me," I ask. "Of course it is." I open it to find a beautiful diamond heart-shaped necklace. On the back is an inscription that says, "waiting for the day, forever and always". I look at him and say, "I know this goes against all of our rules but.." I lean forward and kiss him so passionately. He returns the kiss. We pull back and I tell him "I'm waiting for the day for forever and always too." We hold each other for a long time, knowing that we can't have each other right now, but we are both willing to wait until the day we can. "Okay," he says, "Now it's time to get dressed. Wear something warm." Jace goes to his room go get himself ready and I get dressed as fast as possible. I head downstairs to eat a quick breakfast and wait for Jace to meet me, then we make our way out to the mountains. "Be prepared for a disaster because I've never been snowboarding in my entire life," I tell Jace. He grabs my hand and says "Don't worry, I'll be there every step of the way. This is going to be fun, I promise." We get to the mountains and he helps me strap on my snowboard. I need his help to stand up also. So far, so good. We start moving downhill and of course I fall and he falls right on top of me. "I told you this would be a disaster!" "Don't worry, it's your first time. That's bound to happen atleast once." We both laugh and he helps me back up. We start again and just as I'm getting the hang out of, I fall again. This time, I land on top of Jace. "Are you sure you want to keep trying this," I ask. "We will keep trying until you get this." "We will be here all night then." "Then we will be here all night," he jokes, "Let's take a break." We take off our boards and before I know it, Jace grabs a snowball and tosses it at me. "Oh you are going to regret that," I tell him. I pick up a snowball and throw it at him. We have a full blown snowball fight. Jace catches me by the waist and holds me down. He pushes a snowball in my hair. "Fine, I give up, you win," I say. He jumps up and shout, "Victory!" I sneak up behind him and push a snowball in his face. He picks me up and swings me around until we both fall together in the snow. While lying on top of me he says, "What happens in Aspen stays in Aspen." I look at him and he leans down to kiss me. It's a brief kiss, but it soft and sweet. "I don't know how I will go back home and not be able to kiss you or hold you." I look at him and say, "It will be impossible for both of us, but we can do it. We'll hangout a lot and just wait until we can finally be together." "I will be waiting faithfully until that day comes," he says. I agree to do the same. We stand from the snow and Jace asks if I'm hungry. I tell him I'm starving. He takes me to this cute café over looking the mountains. We sit down at a table next to a large window. I look over and see Jade and her posse. You've got to be kidding me. "Oh look, your girlfriend is here," I tell Jace. He looks over and says, "Please don't say that, you know she's not my girlfriend." "I'm just kidding," I say. "I know, Mila. Let's just pretend we don't see them and have a great lunch." We order our lunch and we each have a glass wine. We have a really amazing time. Just when we are about to leave, Jade walks up and says, "I'm sorry to interrupt your date, but I just wanted to come say hello." Jace says, "Well you said hi so you can go now." "Really? So this is a date," she asks. "If it was, it wouldn't be any of your business," I tell her. "Just remember, Mila. I can destroy you." "Remember, Jade. I can destroy you as well." She grunts and walks away. "I'm sorry Jace, but your exgirlfriend is a stalker." He laughs as we make our way out. "You have no idea." Later on, after we arrive home, Jace asks how I've enjoyed my Christmas Day. This was the best Christmas Day I have ever had and it's all thanks to you." "Well it's not over yet. I'm going to cook you a Christmas diner tonight." "Really," I ask, "You don't have to do that." "I want to. You deserve it, Mila." I smile and say thank you. "You really are the best guy friend I could ever have." "Yes, best guy friend." "I didn't mean to hurt you feelings," I say. "You didn't, Mila. I understand. I'm the best guy friend ever and you're the best girl friend ever." "Okay, I guess you can cook me dinner, but only if I can help." "Deal," he says. We get up to start dinner. It turns out Jace already has a turkey and a ham ready to be cooked. There's also a couple chefs already in the kitchen. "I thought we were cooking?" "Well, I had a better idea. We'll leave it to the professionals and you will go get ready for dinner because I have a special surprise for you." "Another surprise, Jace? You really are going all out for Christmas, aren't you?" "Don't worry, you'll love this surprise." I head upstairs to pick out an outfit and shower. By the time I finish my hair and make-up it's 6:00. I head downstairs and see Jace having a drink at the bar. "Well don't you look beautiful," he compliments me. "Why thank you. So where is this surprise you have for me?" He says, "It will be arriving in just a few minutes." He pours me a glass of wine and I hear the doorbell ring. "Jace, are we expecting company?" "Well go answer and see." I open the door to see my father and Tracy standing there. "Oh my God! What are you two doing here?" My father says, "There was no way that you were going to spend your first Christmas dinner here without me and Tracy." I was so excited to see them. I gave them each a hug and invited them in. I pulled my father to the side and ask, "Will Jade be joining us as well?" "No, I thought it would be best to have a drama-free night, so we had Christmas lunch with her yesterday and Jace planned for us to have Christmas dinner with you tonight." "Jace set this up?" "Yes. He called last week and said he wanted you to have the perfect Christmas and invited us to dinner. Of course we agreed and flew out to come spend this night with you." "This means everything to me, dad. I'm so glad you came." We take a seat at the dining room table and began eating dinner. My father asks me how my trip has been so far. I tell them about all of the shopping and snowboarding. I share how I've gotten to know Jace's parents and how amazing they are. Tracy says, "I'm so glad you are having a great time, you really deserve it, Mila." The rest of the night turns out to be very enjoyable. We make our way to the living room and have a nice time talking and laughing. My father pulls out a wrapped box and says, "Merry Christmas, sweetie. This is from me and Tracy. Well, Tracy picked it out." I open the box and see a gorgeous pink princess cut ring. "Wow, this is just so beautiful. I don't know what to say except thank you so much. Tracy, you picked out the perfect ring for me." She says, "Well I do know you love pink and I just took a guess with the princess cut." As the night comes to an end, they say again how happy they are to be here and to be able to spend Christmas night with me. We give hugs and kisses on the cheek and they tell me they can't wait to see me back in the city. It was just me and Jace, so I go up to him and give him and hug and a kiss. He asks, "What was that for?" "For making tonight happen. I just can't believe you did all this for me." "Mila, I would do anything for you. I just wanted you to have the family Christmas that you deserved." I was so overwhelmed with happiness. This man truly is the man of my dreams and I will wait an eternity just to be with him. We hug once more and say goodnight and say we will see each other in the morning.
