Marilyn's pov
After school, we headed back to the dormitory, tired but relieved. Our school had two dormitories - the girls' dorm and the boys' dorm - and let me tell you, the girls' dorm was the real deal! Both dorms were built almost the same, but our dorm was like a luxury apartment, fit for queens! Each room had only two bunks, which meant just four girls per room, and it was a spacious room at that. We had a fancy toilet and bathroom, a medium-sized wardrobe each, and an air conditioner that kept the room cool and comfy. It was like a mini-paradise! I mean, I'm sure the boys' dorm was okay too, but ours was the real MVP.
I trudged into my room, dropping my heavy school bag onto my bed, which was conveniently located on the top bunk. . Before long, the door burst open and my roommates trooped in. There was Bisola, with her infectious smile, Joyce, with her calm and gentle demeanor and omoshola. We were all in SS3, and as the senior students, we got to enjoy the privilege of occupying the first floor of the dormitory, which was definitely the more coveted location.
"Mariii-lynnnnn!" Bisola shrieked, flinging her arms around me in a tight hug.
I laughed, feeling a warmth spread through me at the enthusiastic greeting.
As an art student, Bisola was in a different class from me, SS3 Class A, while I was in Class B with the science students. We hadn't seen each other all day, and it was clear she was excited to finally catch up.
"Omg, how are you? You're glowing, girl!" she exclaimed, holding me at arm's length to admire me.
Joyce joined in, her voice rising in excitement. "Likeeeee, Marilyn, you're looking fire!"
I blushed, feeling a little self-conscious but happy to be surrounded by such supportive friends. "Aww, thank you, guys," I said, grinning. "I'm doing great"My roommates were the best, well, except for Omoshola. I know it sounds weird, but I just couldn't vibe with her, even though she's literally the most stunning girl I've ever laid eyes on. I mean, have you seen her? She's like a Nigerian princess or something! But, unfortunately, her beauty is matched only by her cold demeanor. Bisola, on the other hand, is an absolute sweetheart. I mean, have you seen her lashes? They're like the longest, most luscious things I've ever seen! And Joyce, oh my gosh, she's a total supermodel. Tall, slender, and absolutely gorgeous.
But what I love most about them is their kind hearts. They're always there for me, supporting me, and lifting me up.
Omoshola, though... I just don't get it. She's always giving me the cold shoulder, and I'm like, "Girl, what's your problem?" But, you know what? I'm not about to waste my time trying to impress someone who clearly doesn't want to be impressed. I'm good, Omoshola. I'll just stick to my girls, Bisola and Joyce. So bisola sat on her bed,she was in the downbunk while I was up,Joyce sat beside her
"We're almost done with secondary school, girls!" Joyce exclaimed, her eyes shining with excitement. "Marilyn, you're still not interested in dating? People are literally waiting with bated breath to see who you'll finally choose to date!"
I shrugged nonchalantly, used to the attention.Let's face it, I'm Marilyn Ajibola, the girl who doesn't have to try to get guys' attention. I'm the one everyone wants to be friends with, but I'm super picky about who I let into my inner circle. And honestly, I love the mystique surrounding my love life. If I deign to talk to someone, it's like a badge of honor for them. They must be special, right? I smiled to myself, enjoying the power dynamics at play.
"I can't Date any guy here, they're so annoying " I exclaimed, shedding my school shirt to reveal my white singlet.
Bisola's eyes sparkled with mischief as she blurted out, "I'm calling it now, I think you might end up with Morgan"
Joyce and I let out a synchronized scream of horror, "Whattt?!" I added"Eww, no way! Morgan is like a brother to me, please, no!"
Bisola laughed, her voice tinkling with amusement. "Calm down, girls! Morgan is actually ridiculously gorgeous. If I were his best friend, I'd have fallen head over heels for him!"
"That's because you have no shame, Bisola!"Joyce teased
Bisola shot back " having shame hasn't gotten me anything I want in life!"
I rolled my eyes, exasperated. "Please, can we drop the Morgan talk? He's just so... ugh!"
