three (You are a bloody joke)

That morning, when Charlie awoke from her dreams, she felt more at peace with herself than ever before. Like her lungs were filled with a breath of fresh air that she desperately needed. Lifting herself off her soft mattress, she stretched her body, allowing her joints and muscles to loosen up before swinging her legs over to get up out of bed and start her new life.

It would be easy to adapt to Harry's touch when they were constantly together and were beyond comfortable with one another. Being friends for years had its benefits in a time like this. Even if that's what she originally thought when her and Ron started dating, she still had hope that friendship would be the key to her future real relationships.

Charlie headed to her shared dorm bathroom and brushed her hair using her wand to set it into place with some loose curls. She grabbed her uniform, which she placed on the sink the night before, and quickly changed so she could wait for Harry in the common room. They had absolutely no plan or idea for how they'd start fake dating, but she had faith in him, and that's all that mattered to her.

Doing a double take in the mirror, Charlie smiled and walked out of the bathroom and grabbed her wand before heading down into the empty common room. Having the peaceful space to herself was exactly what her mind needed in that moment. Just her and the flickering light of the dying fireplace was the perfect way to start her day.

"You're down here early," a voice called out to her, pulling her out of her zone and bringing her back to reality.

Her head slowly turned back to find Harry standing there with a lop sided grin and messy hair. He was changed into his uniform, and his glasses were fixed on his face ever so slightly crooked.

Charlie smiled and got off the couch without even thinking and went over to him. She threw her arms around him in a tight hug, which Harry quickly melted into. With a gentle hand on her back, he drew small circles whilst humming to himself in content. Neither wanted to pull away as they felt the sun's rays hit their side as it rose high into the sky, setting the day.

"You smell nice," Harry whispered, Ron had never told her she smelt nice when they hugged, and this stirred something up within Charlie.

To feel appreciated in a way that is unique to her and adapt to the unknown was both intimidating and exciting. A boy with shining emerald eyes and the highest level of fame had complimented her in a way she thought was only possible in her wildest dreams.

"You are a bloody joke," an adjetated voice spoke with an eye roll you could feel through the voice without ever looking up to check.

The two quickly pulled apart to see a pissed red head, who had just broken up with Charlie. The girl panicked, not wanting to face his e
rath or ruin Harry and his friendship.

"Says you, Ron, she just needed a hug because of what you did," Harry pushed Charlie behind him with an arm over her, in order to protect her from having to talk to Ron who appeared to be in a mood.

Ron scoffed in defeat "Whatever" he rolled his eyes, pushing past them out of the common room presumably towards the Great Hall for breakfast. Harry shrugged at his behavior before turning, checking to see if the girl was okay.

Ron's temper could be terrifying if you were under fire for too long. A war no person had ever been able to win once Ron was set in his ways and mindset. Like a wildfire burning, no matter how much water you spread to put it out, it only seemed like the fire grew larger. The kind of fire that divides and consumes for its own selfish needs destroying everyone and everything around and in its path.

Harry grabbed a hold of Charlie's hand and began walking towards the common room door. She looked down, and her heart fluttered whilst a pink blush dusted her face. Students flooded out, and the shock spoke beyond measures as they watched the two exit the common room. Hogwarts gossip traveled faster than the speed of life, and the news was sure to travel to every student by the end of the day, if that.

It was to be expected, and yet still a rush of adrenaline swirled with anxiety rushed through Charlie from head to toe. The reality of what she had started had only partially began to settle in, and it terrified her that she might have made the worst mistake of her life with no way of going back on it. No backup plan, just straight impulsively, taking over and guiding her.

By the time Charlie snapped into reality, she saw the students of Hogwarts looking at her and Harry holding hands, walking through the hall to get to a spot at the Gryffindor table. She looked around frantically, worrying about each and every whisper that spread across the hall faster than she could have ever imagined.

Harry squeezed her hand "Hey I'm right here with you till the end of the line" he smiled at her as he let go sitting down saving room for the girl to sit next to him, something she did gladly as to stop paying attention to the people which surrounded her.

"Always," she managed to whisper out before distracting herself by piling on a plate full of food in order to keep her mind occupied on anything else.

Harry went through an arm around her shoulders and began eating himself, paying no mind to anyone or anything around him. It seemed like it came to him effortlessly, but that was likely due to being a childhood icon and token of light for so many without ever knowing why. He always seemed to know exactly what to do or just what to say, and Charlie hoped with time he'd rub off on her so she too could escape tense situations with such ease. Perhaps this situation wouldn't be as bad as her mind was playing it out to be. After all, they were in this together, always.
