Seven (You have an amazing heart)
Charlie roamed the echoing halls, her steps a dance of curiosity, while Harry, her steadfast companion, treaded alongside, his presence a shield against the unknown. Each step Charlie took echoed through the empty corridors. Together, they navigated the twists and turns of the ancient halls, unsure of where they were going and what they were going to do.
Amidst the bustle of the new hallway, Harry and Charlie walked hand in hand, their fingers intertwined. Charlie's grip tightened on his hand, her heart pounding with a mixture of anxiety and determination. "Keep walking," she whispered, her voice a mere breath against the feelings overwhelming her
The boy nodded, understanding the unspoken plea in her eyes. With practiced ease, they adjusted their course, veering away from Ron without drawing attention to themselves. However, fate seemed determined to test their resolve as Ron's gaze flickered in their direction. His face was going red at seeing the pair.
"Hey, Char!" Daniel called out, his voice cutting through the crowded sidewalk.
Charlie plastered a smile on her face, her grip on Harry's hand tightening even more. "Oh, hi, Daniel," she said, her tone polite but distant.
Harry stepped forward, his arm instinctively wrapping around the girls waist, a protective gesture. "Hey, man," he greeted Daniel with a forced smile, his demeanor casual yet guarded.
Daniel's eyes narrowed slightly as he took in the scene before him, his gaze flicking between Charlie and Harry. "I didn't know you two were..." he trailed off, his words hanging in the air, unspoken but heavy with implication.
He clearly did know. It would be hard not to consider how fast news traveled around the Hogwarts campus.
Her cheeks flushed with embarrassment, but she quickly recovered, her resolve steeling as she met Daniel's gaze head-on. "Yeah, it's uh...new," she improvised, her voice steady despite the nerves fluttering in her stomach.
Harry squeezed Emily's hand reassuringly, his silent support a testament to their unspoken agreement to navigate this encounter with grace. "Well, congrats," Daniel said with a forced smile, though a hint of skepticism lingered in his eyes.
"Thanks," Charlie replied, her smile tight but genuine.
With a nod of farewell, Daniel continued on his way, leaving Harry and Charlie standing on the bustling sidewalk, their facade intact despite the close call. As they resumed their walk, a sense of relief washed over them, their shared triumph a silent celebration of their ability to navigate the complexities of fake dating with minimal confrontation.
It wasn't easy considering they were both fairly popular, and Harry was known all through Europe. Yet the pair seemed to be manageung just fine.
Charlie looked over at Harry before smiling. "You have the biggest heart. Thank you for doing that for me." Harry chuckled
"As your boyfriend, I'm here to protect you the best I can and make sure every guy knows to back off." Those words sent chills down the girls' spine
Ron had never said anything that romantic to her in the time they had dated. He had always focused more on himself and expected all the glory simply by being friends with Harry.
Perhaps it was his insecurities showing through with being the youngest of the Weasley boys, never owning something new. His younger sister had gotten new everything, and it never felt fair to him that he got generations old hammie downs nobody wanted.
Charlie smiled to herself. Harry would never be that insecure, at least not in the same ways as Ron. Her boyfriend was much more selfless. The girl had to mentally remind herself that he was her fake boyfriend and not her real one.
But the way her heart fluttered every time he said her name. The tingles left on her cheek after his lips pressed a gentle loving kiss upon it. That wasn't something she could fake. So she pushed it down for the sake of the cause. Revenge.
Eventually, maybe she and Harry could grow into a more permanent and real relationship. That was if he was feeling the same way she had been feeling, of course. Charlie didn't want to get ahead of herself and end up heartbroken once again.
