Katsuki sighed as he heard the shower turn on inside of the guest bedroom. He looked down at the little bundle in his arms and decided he should probably go try to find those clothes. Thankfully, the little brat was sleeping peacefully, so it shouldn’t be too hard.

He walked slowly out of the room and to the closet where they kept all the old clothes. It was for later in life, all baby and child clothes, for their future pack pups. He rarely comes in here anymore, not since Mina and Kirishima had lost their little one last year.

His packmates had been so excited when Mina had a positive pregnancy test. The doctors even said the baby was healthy. They would have been great parents.

Alpha bodies just weren’t made to grow babies in, though. Their genes were usually too volatile to carry children. That meant most alpha’s couldn’t even get pregnant. They thought they had done it though, since she had been pregnant. They made it past the first trimester and everyone was sure they were in the clear.

She wasn’t even a week into her second trimester when she woke up to cramping. The whole pack had sat with them in the hospital that night, mourning the pup. It was the most heart wrenching thing Katsuki had ever been through.

That was almost 6 months ago now. All of the old clothes were still untouched here. He opened the door and sighed, glancing around. There was a small sleeping bassinet in the corner, which he pulled over and laid Inki in. He turned to the closet with a frown and swung open the doors. There were boxes piled from wall to wall, floor to ceiling.

Luckily, Mina had been smart enough to label sizes.

He dug out the box labeled “8-12 m” and tossed it onto the unmade bed. Opening the flaps, he nodded to himself. These clothes would likely fit the small boy.

Okay, how do I get this all back to the room? I don’t want to bother Midoriya, but I can’t leave Inki alone. Think, Katsuki.

He sized up the box and then leaned up next to it, lifting it onto his shoulder.

Okay, step one complete.

He then was able to hold the bassinet with the other arm, gently rocking it to keep Inki asleep.

Step two, check.

Walking to the room was another feat. He had to shuffle sideways in order to fit through the doors, but he made do. It wasn’t so bad in the hall, and by the time he got back to Midoriya’s room, he had gotten it down.

The shower was still running when he entered the room, setting everything down gently. Inki was still asleep, thank God, and everything was calm.

That is, until a loud voice rang through the house.

“Yo, Bakugou! Where are you, man? I thought you were coming down to Dragon today?” Damn you, Kaminari. Inki started awake, loud crying filling the room.

“Shit-” Katsuki muttered, lifting the child into his arms. He unwrapped the boy from the wet blanket that was still draped around him, grabbing one of the random blankets on the bed to substitute.

He bounced on his heels, gently trying to rock the child back to sleep. Nothing was working, making him groan in frustration when Inki only cried louder.

“Bakugou, what is that noise?” He heard Denki’s voice getting closer.

“Shut the fuck up, Pikachu.” He growled at the open door, his packmates face finally popping around the corner.

“What the hell- oh my god.” Denki said, jaw dropping. “A baby? Katsuki? Can I hold him?” He asked, gravitating towards the child. He coo’d at the angry face the small boy was making.

“No, Sparky, leave.” He grumbled, holding the child tighter.

“Come on, Kats.” He pouted, reaching his arms out. “I love babies.”

Katsuki debated it.

Sparky is better at taking care of kids than me. He is an omega too, maybe the kid’s scared of me.

Omega. Pup. Protect.

Shut the fuck up, alpha.

After a moment of internal deliberation, he finally gave in, gently handing the baby over.

It was like something had possessed his friend. The usually loud and obnoxious Denki Kaminari held the baby close, made soft chirping sounds, and bounced the boy gently. Inki fell asleep in minutes.

“How the hell did you do that?”

“Aww, you want me to teach you?”

“Shut the fuck up and tell me.”

“Be an omega.” Denki said with a smile, laying the boy back down in the bassinet. “Now, when Kiri said you had brought home an omega, I wasn’t expecting this. ”

“Shut up and get out before he gets out of the shower.” Katsuki began shoving his friend out the door.

“But Baku-”

“Bye, sparkplug.” He muttered, shutting the door. His friends could be so nosy.

He heard the door to the bathroom open and a wet green head stick out.

“Clothes?” The man asked. Katsuki cursed himself in his head.

“One second.” He said, and rushed out the door. He headed straight for his own room, grabbing the first shirt and pants combo he had seen, which was a hoodie with a bomb on the front that his friends had gotten him and a pair of old sweatpants.

He all but sprinted back to the room, handing them to the man, whose eyes were locked on his child.

“Thanks, Kacchan.”

Katsuki almost choked as the door shut.

Kacchan? Oh my god that's too cute.

The pride that built in his stomach told him his alpha liked the nickname too. He looked over at Inki and shook his head.

“Your mama may kill me.” He whispered, sitting on the bed next to the sleeping boy. From this angle, he looked so small and helpless, Katsuki couldn’t stop the hurt he felt building in his heart. He wondered what the poor thing and his mom had had to go through just to get stuck with an asshole prime alpha and his idiotic pack.

The door to the bathroom opened again a moment later, and Midoriya stepped into the room, freshly cleaned and wrapped in Katsuki’s clothing. Katsuki stopped breathing for a moment, before he caught himself staring and stood.

“I’m going to make you some food. Any preference?” He asked, shoving his hands into his pockets.

“No, but, nothing spicy please?” He asked, lifting the baby into his arms and stepping towards the door again. “I really can’t thank you enough. Honestly, you don’t seem like the kind of person who usually does this sort of stuff.”

“I’m not.” He answered, almost too quickly. “But, uh, I’d be an asshole if I let a single mom who was pregnant stay out in the rain. So.”

“Right. Well, thank you.”

“Oh, by the way, my pack will be back tonight. Don’t let them scare you, okay? They’re harmless.”

“P-pack?” The omega asked.

“Yeah. You don’t have one?” He asked, surprised. Almost everyone had a pack now. He held out his arm, where the pack marks lay. One for each of his friends.

“N-no. I always thought they didn’t do that here in the city.” He shook his head.

“Well, we do.” He took another step towards the door. “I’ll be in the kitchen if you need me.”

As he stepped out of the room, he released the breath he had been holding.

Pull yourself together, Katsuki. You can’t let the anger show in your scent. You’ll scare him away.

Protect.

Yeah, yeah, protect.
