I tuck in my shirt once again, smiling softly at my reflection in the mirror. A white flower crown rests neatly in my dark, black mop of hair. I had finally managed to tame it after waking up, the longish locks not cooperating with my brush.
The choker's hugging my neck shimmer slightly in the dim Christmas lights strung around my room. Yes I know, Christmas is not for another nine months but hey, who doesn't like a little bit of Christmas spirit in the spring?
I quickly put on a small layer of lipgloss on my thin lips before stepping out of my room with boots in hand. "Good morning Kellin." My mom says, freezing slightly as she sees my outfit.
"Good morning Mom." I lace up the heels, straightening myself out and ruffling my skirt slightly. "You look... Beautiful." She says, uncertainty laced in her sweet and soft tone.
"Thank you." I smile softly and press a small kiss to her cheek before grabbing my books and heading towards the door. My heels click against the floor. Being a shorter individual I enjoy wearing heals, they make me taller so I don't have to look up at people when they talk.
"Have a good day now." She smiles as I wave at her before walking out of the house.
Most people say school is Hell. Yeah, people might snicker under their breath or whisper to their friends about me but I can get over it fast. School is moderately okay.
As soon as I step into the school I'm confronted by the student body president. She's very nice, but very strict. "Good morning Jenna." I say, smiling as she studies my outfit. "Good morning Kellin, is the skirt fingertip length and is the shirt sleeves three fingers wide?" She questions.
She does this every morning, seeing if I'm in the proper dress code. See, we don't have a uniform but we have to follow a dress code. All skirts and shorts must be fingertip length. No ripped skinny jeans, which sucks. If you're wearing a tank top the straps have to be three fingers wide, so no spaghetti straps. No piercings other than ear piercings and no heavy makeup. Which is usually broken by every girl in the school, sometimes me too. No heels higher than three inches. And finally, no leggings unless you have something to cover the butt with. The dean of students is lazy and happy that she does this for him.
"Alright, you're good. Have a nice day Kellin." She smiles wide and then whispers. "And remember, if anyone bothers you just come to me and I'll take care of it."
"Thanks Jenna, and thanks for the offer." I reply kindly. I'm not known as a snitch, I'm not comfortable with telling on people. That is unless they do something horrible, but if someone just makes a small comment under their breath? I can handle it.
Jenna quickly scurries away towards a girl with super short shorts on. I smile in her direction before heading off towards my locker.
"Why, don't you look pretty today." Tay coos, leaning on my locker. "Thank you." I reply quietly, my cheeks burning a soft pink.
