XII. If You Kiss Me Goodnight, I'll Know, Everything Is Alright

"Mom! I'm going out with Vic!" I call, almost tripping down the stairs. I catch myself quickly, fixing my hair.

"Okay, be back for dinner." She says, wiping her wet hands on a hand towel.

"Who's Vic?" Dad asks, walking into the room. "My boyfriend." I adjust my shorts before giving my mom a quick hug.

Dad looks a bit hurt as I give them a wave. "See ya later!"

Vic was already parked in the front, texting someone patiently. "Hey beautiful." He smiles, leaning over and giving me a quick kiss.

"How's it been?" He asks as I buckle myself up. "Everything's going okay I guess, dad's been getting irritated though. I'm noticing I'm being sarcastic towards him more, I need to stop." I look over at the house, rolling my eyes when I see him looking through the curtains.

"There he is, my wonderful father." I sigh deeply, Vic leaning over me to get a look. "He looks pretty chill." He shrugs, patting my thigh and starting the car.

"It's okay to be a little sarcastic but, it's kind of his fault. Yknow, for leaving and all. Like I miss him and all but..." I trail off.

He nods in understanding. We drive in silence for a little bit, the houses becoming more scattered. The trees replace the houses as we roll along a lonely looking road.

I jump slightly as my phone buzzes in my back pocket.

"Hello?"

"Kellin I slept with Jenna!"

I nearly drop the phone.

"You what?!"

"It happened so quick we were just watching a movie and then we started making out and then boom! We had sex!!"

Vic gives me a questioning look.

"Tay I-"

"She's got nice tits okay."

"Tay that's gross."

"Oh shit she's awake, talk to you later!"

"But Tay-."

"Love ya Kellin!"

"Yeah yeah I love you too."

I roll my eyes at her, secretly happy for her on the inside.

"What was that all about?" Vic asks as I tuck my phone in my pocket. I shrug, giving him a sideways glance. "Tay slept with Jenna and she's freaking out."

Vic laughs, stopping at a stop sign. "Tay's a nice girl." He says, pulling into a parking lot. "Anyway, where are we?" I ask, unbuckling myself.

"Just the lake, thought we could just chill for awhile." He shrugs, opening his door and stretching. I do the same, adjusting my shorts and going over to his side.

"It's cold." I mutter, hugging myself. "Well yeah, it's October." He laughs, wrapping an arm around my waist and leading me towards the probably freezing water.

"It's kinda weird." I say, leaning into his warm side. "What's weird?" He hums, staring out at the cold waves. "Having him back... I don't even know why he came back."

"Sometimes people are confusing."

I nod at his statement, resting my head on his shoulder. I adjust my shorts, the waves rolling in and almost covering my shoes.

We stand like that for a good five minutes, just basking in each other's presence.

"Wanna go make out in the back of my car?"
