" MCKENNA, hey, there's something you should see," steve says, shaking the young girl awake.
her eyes are puffy from crying, but she gets up off of the couch, and follows him outside greeted by nat, rhodey, pepper, and rocket. she sees a ship levitating down, that they all run towards. a glowing women lays it on the ground, and unglows.
steve runs towards the staircase, grabbing ahold of tony's fragile arm, "couldn't stop him," tony says, breathing heavily.
"neither could i," steve replies, helping him walk.
"hang on," tony stops him before they get into hearing range from mckenna, "i lost the kid," he states, making steve's eyes grow wide.
"don't tell her just yet," steve says, as pepper runs towards the men.
"oh, good," tony says breathy.
pepper takes a deep breath, "oh, my god!" she exclaims, wrapping her arms around tony's neck and sobbing into his shoulder.
tony kisses peppers cheek, as the three walk slowly into the compound.

" ITSbeen twenty three days since thanos came to earth," rhodey states, as pictures of everyone who has been reported blipped pop up.
mckenna sees bucky's picture and she bites the inside of her lip. that picture then changed to peter parker, and that breaks her. mckenna's lip quivers, as she loses interest in whatever they are saying.
she wants revenge. she wants to kill thanos herself, and with the anger she has bottled up, she could do it.
mckenna puts her head into her hands, trying to do what bucky taught her to do to keep herself calm, and to not go back to how hydra made her be.
"we've been hunting thanos for three weeks now. deep space scans, and satellites, and we got nothing," steve states, looking over at a breaking down mckenna, "tony, you fought him."
"who told you that?" tony asks defensively, "i didn't fight him. no, he wiped my face with a planet, while the bleecker street magician gave away the store. that's what happened," tony says going on, "there was no fight, cause he's not beatable."
"did he give you any clue, any coordinates, anything?" steve asks, causing both mckenna and tony to scoff. tony points to his head and blows raspberries.
"i saw this coming a few years back. i had a vision. i didn't wanna believe it. thought i was dreaming," tony rambles.
steve stands up straight, "tony, im gonna need you to focus."
"and i needed you. as in, past tense. that trumps what you need. it's too late, buddy," tony says, shaking his head, "sorry." steve takes in a deep breath, "you know what i need? i need a shave," tony says, slamming the glass bowl in front of him, "and i believe i remember telling all youse," tony goes on, unhooking his iv, "alive and otherwise, what we needed was a suit of armor around the world. remember that? whether it impacted our precious freedoms or not. that's what we needed."
"well that didn't work out did it?" steve asks, starting to feel agitated.
"i said we lose. you said, 'we'd do that together, too.' and guess what, cap? we lost. and you weren't there," tony says, pushing mckenna over the edge.
she slams her hands onto the table and stands up, frustrated, "no tony! that's not fair! he was there. even if he wasn't with you in space, he was still fighting. we all were. we all lost collectively. it was not one person's fault. as a leader you should understand that," mckenna says, waving her arms around, "everyone in this room fought their entire asses off, for nothing. i lost the two most important people of my life. and that is our fault. not cap's, not your's, not mine. ours. we do lose together tony. you are just always too up someone's ass to see," mckenna states, walking out into the hallway, and grabbing a caprissun from the fridge.
she goes into the glass room that thor has captivated himself into, "i'm sorry mckenna," he apologizes.
"what are you sorry for thor? you fought just as hard as the rest of us, if not harder," mckenna says, looking at thor's blue eye.
"if i killed thanos. you wouldn't be hurting right now," thor says, avoiding eye contact.
"i appreciate that thor. thank you," she says smiling at the god.
"don't bother. i can tell you where thanos is," nebula states, grabbing both thor and mckenna's attention.
the two most powerful avengers sit at the dining table, a serving of curling fries in the middle of them, looking like little kids.
"if we do this how do we know this won't end any different than how it ended before?" bruce asks.
"because before you didn't have me," captain marvel states, causing mckenna to laugh under her breath.
thor smiles at the confidence, knowing that the teenage girl and him have comfortably shared the title as the strongest avengers.
"hey, new girl? everybody in this room is about that superhero life," rhodey says, waving his arms around in a circular motion, "and if you don't mind my asking where the hell have you been all this time?"
"there are a lot of other planets in the universe," carol states, placing her hands onto her hips, "and unfortunately they didn't have you guys."
thor stands up still chewing his food, while mckenna lays back in her chair, watching the man walk over to newer avenger, and call over his axe, not bringing an emotion to her face.
he did the same thing with mckenna, that was the day their friendship started.
"i like this one," thor states, mckenna nods in agreement.
mckenna stands up and walks behind thor, "lets go get this purple nut sack bitch," she states, earning laughs from everyone in the room.
