CHAPTER TWENTY SEVEN ! the cold never bother me anyway.

" OKAY," rocket says, looking back in the rocket, "who here hasn't been to space?" he asks, causing mckenna, steve, natasha, and rhodey to raise their hands.
rhodey shakes his head, "why?" he asks, as carol laughs.
"you better not throw up on my ship," rocket states, turning back around in his chair.
"approaching jump in three, two, one," nebula says, everyone grabbing onto their seats.
mckenna's head gets pushed back against the chair. she smiles at the feeling, while everyone else looks uncomfortable. the colors of the planets they pass by reflect into the ship.
the ship stops abruptly, in front of a planet that looks a lot like saturn, "i'll head down for recon," carol says, flying down into the planet's atmosphere.
"this is gonna work steve," natasha says, nodding her head.
steve looks off into the distance, "i know it will. cause i don't know what im gonna do if it doesn't."
carol flies back up towards the ship, "no satellites. no ships. no armies. no ground defense of any kind," she states, causing bruce to turn his head in confusion, "it's just him."
nebula nods, "and that's enough," she says, as mckenna cracks her neck and her knuckles.
carol bolts down into the shack that thanos is housed in, and flips onto his shoulders, choking him.
bruce, in the hulk buster armor breaks through the floor, and grabs onto one arm, as rhodey breaks through a wall and grabs onto the other.
thor destroys the wall on the opposite side and chops off thanos' hand.
steve, natasha, and mckenna walk through the hole in thanos' cabin. rocket flips the gauntlet over, revealing the five missing slots that were once filled with the infinity stones, "oh no," the raccoon says, causing mckenna's eyes to glow purple, at her growing anger.
"where are they?" steve asks, not receiving an answer.
mckenna takes a step closer, "where are they asshole?" she exclaims, her jaw clenched.
carol chokes him tighter, "answer the question," she states, seeing as mckenna is growing more angry by the second.
thanos, through heavy breathing replies, "the universe required correction. after that, the stones served no purpose. beyond temptation."
"you murdered trillions!" bruce yells pushing thanos onto the ground, as mckenna looks over at one of thanos' blades that is resting against a wall.
"you should be greatful," thanos states.
mckenna glares at the alien, "greatful?" she says, sarcastically laughing, "you took some of only people who have ever cared about me and you want me to be greatful?" she stomps on his face, her heel going into his eye socket.
steve puts his arm up in front of her, pushing her back so she doesn't destroy him before they can get their questions in.
natasha looks at thanos, "where are the stones?" she asks, her voice breaking.
"gone," thanos replies, "reduced to atoms."
"you used them two days ago!" bruce yells, as mckenna's cheeks begin to become tear stained.
thanos leans closer to bruce, "i used the stones to destroy the stones. it nearly killed me. but the work is done. it always will be," he says, as everyone looks over to mckenna, who's on the verge of sobbing, "i am inevitable," he says, leaning up closer to mckenna.
rhodey looks around, "we-we have-have to tear this place apart. he has to be lying," he states, as mckenna contemplates a thought.
"my father is many things. a liar is not one of them," nebula says, causing mckenna to roll her tear filled eyes.
thanos sits up, "ah. thank you, daughter," he breaths heavily, "perhaps i treated you too harshly."
mckenna rolls her eyes and makes the blade she has been eyeing up float to her hand, cutting thanos' head off of his body.
she stands like that for a moment, her eyes wide with fear of herself, "what did you do," rocket asks.
"she went for the head," thor replies, a proud smile on his face.
mckenna stays silent, not knowing what came of her. she's always been one to avoid conflict when possible, even if that's not how it seemed.
she stumbles backwards, and walks out of the shack. steve goes to walk after her, but natasha grabs his wrist stopping him, "she needs a second steve. she hasn't had a moment to breath, with losing bucky, then losing peter, and then finding out there's not a way back? she's going through a lot."
he nods, everyone just looking down at the floor, unknowing of what to do next.

" STEVE, it's the best choice. i'm a danger to everyone right now. with everything that happened im not safe. i'm sorry steve," mckenna says, stepping into same type of the capsule that steve put bucky into four years prior.
steve looks down at his feet, as bruce looks at the levels, "i get it kenna. we'll pull you out when we figure it out. i promise," he says, nodding his head.
mckenna nods back, as the cold air begins to pour into the capsule.
