Messages between Normani and Grant

grant allen: Hi Mani, do you have a second to talk?

maniii: Hi Grant, ofc, what's up?

grant allen: Okay so I don't know if you've been seeing the comments on my Instagram posts, but my ex is literally scaring the shit out of me.

I'm sorry to bring you into this and I'm sorry that she's commenting on your posts.

maniii: Well yes, I've seen the comments, who hasn't at this point. It's getting really creepy at this point. I'm sorry that you have to go through this Grant.

And it's fine, you'd be surprised at how much I can handle these days.

If you don't mind me asking, what happened between you guys?

grant allen: I don't mind at all.

Actually, do you mind if I facetime you? It's too much for me to text lol

maniii: Yes of course.

As Normani sent that text, a facetime call started to come through.

Her heart begins to skip a beat. She hasn't verbally spoken to Grant since their last meet up with each other. It's crazy how someone can just come into your life and completely change it. Realizing that the phone has been ringing for a while, she rushed to answer the phone.

The call connects and Grant's handsome face pops up on the screen. For a second, all they could do was stare at each other, in awe of each other's beauty. After a few seconds of silence pass, Grant is the one to break the silence.

"I was scared you weren't going to answer, the phone was ringing for a while."

Normani lets out a soft laugh, thinking back to how her daydreaming caused the delay.

"Yeah, that's my bad. To be honest, I was kind of daydreaming when you called me. I still just can't believe that this is real life. THE Grant Gustin is facetiming me right now."

On the other side of the phone, Grant can't help but look at her in awe. She's a famous artist who used to a part of one of the most amazing girl groups ever and she's the one that's in awe of him. It made him feel warm inside.

"I should be the one that's in awe. THE Normani answered my facetime call."

Normani then began to realize that they spent the last few minutes just complimenting each other. This wasn't the reason that Grant called.

"Um, so are you ready to tell me what happened?"

The question shook Grant back to reality as he began to realize the real reason why he called in the first place

"Uh yeah of course."

He takes a deep breath and begins to tell his story.

"Well, we met in 2016, and we hit it off pretty well in the beginning. We had so much in common, we loved the same things, we both were really into fitness, and we both really loved sports, basketball specifically. I can go on and on about why we just made sense to be together but that's beside the point. When 2020 hit, you know everyone had to stay home. Well, we were still trying to be active while staying at home, so she hired a personal trainer. Things were okay at first but then one day, I came home one day and noticed that the trainer's car was there, but we didn't have a session that day, so I found that very weird and I felt like I kind of knew what I was about to find.

I walked into my house, walked to my room, and found them asleep in the bed together. To make this already long story short, they had been seeing each other for months, even before he became our personal trainer. She brought this guy around me, knowing that she was cheating on me. I took pics of them, left the house and drove around for a few hours to clear my head.

I came back letter and by then he was gone, and she greeted me like nothing happened. I basically told her that she had by tomorrow night to get all of her things and leave before I called the cops on her. She was confused but I told her that I knew about her cheating and of course, she tried to deny it. I showed her the pics I took, and she was just a crying mess. I'm surprised I wasn't crying myself, but I had accepted that our relationship was done and there was no forgiving her."

After Grant finished speaking, the two were just looking at each for a while. It was a lot to take in. This was the first time Grant had really opened up about what he went through, and it felt good for him to finally get that off of his chest. Yeah, everyone knew he got cheated on, but no one really knew the details.

Normani was the one to break the silence this time.

"Wow Grant, I can't believe you had to go through something like that. You're an amazing person and anyone would be lucky to have you. I hope she didn't ruin your view on love because I know that there's someone out there willing to give you their all."

Although Grant didn't know it, Normani was talking about herself. She wanted to show Grant what love truly was, especially after experiencing something as traumatic as getting cheated on.

On the other side of the phone, Grant felt the sincerity of her words. Although she didn't know it, Grant wanted her to be the one that was willing to give her all to him, with him doing the same. In due time, he would get her, and he could finally be happy. They could be happy together.

"Thank you, Mani. The breakup really messed me up more than I thought. It was so bad to the point where it was affecting my work. I was crying on set all the time and it was just really hard for me to film some days, but my friends helped me get through it. Now fast forward to now, she's freaking harassing me and has been for a few weeks now. I'm assuming her and her boy toy didn't work out so she's miserable now and trying to come back into my life."

"Well, I know she's sick to her stomach now seeing you thrive and kick ass on Tv."

Normani and Grant both let out a chuckle as they stare at each other some more, it's all they seemed to do now.

"Thank you for opening up to me Grant, I feel like I know you more now and I feel closer to you."

"Of course, Mani, it feels good to be open with someone important to you. I hope one day you feel comfortable enough to do the same with me."

Important. Grant said that Normani was important to him. His words made her heart swell with happiness.

"Well, it's getting pretty late, so I'll let you get your beauty sleep. Goodnight Mani, sleep well."

"Goodnight Grant, talk to you soon."

The phone call soon ends, and they both release a breath they didn't know they were holding. Normani put her phone on the charger, got in her bed and stared at the ceiling for a while before slowly drifting to sleep. Grant stared at his phone for a while, reminiscing about the conversation he had just had with Normani. He doesn't know when, but he knows that their relationship is going in the right direction.
