3 months later

It's been three months since the release of Normani's single "Wild Side" and she's been basking in the success of the song. It was currently sitting at number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 and she's couldn't be more grateful.

She's been in the studio constantly, working on her debut album. She's been teasing it for a long time and now she felt like it the time for her to start her album roll out.

Normani has been through a lot during the past year. Failed relationships, heartbreaks, depression, you name it. On this album, she wanted to be real, raw, and honest. She wanted people to relate but also give people a few songs to turn up to.

While in her thoughts, she heard a knock on the door to her at home studio, making her regain her focus.

"Come in," she says as she as she placed her notebook and pencil down.

"Hey you."

Grants head peaked through the door and he steps into the door with a bag of McDonalds in his hands.

"You've been in here for like 4 hours so of course I had to make sure you were still alive," he says chuckling to himself.

"And don't worry, I put the extra key back under your flower pot."

"You had better," she said in a joking tone while pointing at him.

Grant had finished shooting season 4 of  The Flash two months ago and was so eager to see Normani again. On the last day of shooting, he flew back to LA and called Normani as soon as he landed.

As far as their relationship goes, they were still very good friends. As the time went on, they could most definitely feel the tension starting to grow between them.

The short glances at each other, the hugs that seemed to last longer than they needed to, and the fact that they were literally attached at the hip since he's been in LA.

"Thanks for checking on me G. I really just need this song to be perfect. I want people to feel me, you know," she expressed as she started taking the bags from him.

"Well whatever you're working on, I just know it's amazing, everything you do is amazing," he says while softly smiling at her. It was things like this that made her heart flutter. She really did like Grant but she didn't want to make the same mistakes she did in her last relationship.

"Well before we eat, tell me how you feel about the song. I want your honest opinion and please don't lie," she said looking at him with pleading eyes.

"Wow. I get first listen? I must be special."

"You are special."

They look at each other and smile. After a few moments, she breaks the silence, pressing a button on her soundboard and a soft melody begins to play.

"Two-hundred days and counting I know
You're my favorite still
When I say I won't tell myself, I don't but I always will
Feel the way I feel
You had time to heal, I got time to kill
Play in my mind like I rehearsed it
I know I should re-purpose
Ain't no faking hurt like this nah
You carry her and all I carry are burdens
Time for me ain't working
I know heartbreak ain't perfect but..."

The music then stops and the studio is silent. She looks over a Grant who seems to be deep in thought. She put her hurt into this song, in hopes that someone out there could relate.

"Wow. This is beautiful. I love how you're putting your hurt into music and making something good out of it. Most people let their hurt define them but you, you're different," he says finally looking at her.

Those words coming from him, made something shift inside of her. She started to feel her eyes water as she looks away, wiping her tears.

"Hey, why are you crying," Grant questions as he comes on and sits in the office chair next to her.

She looks towards him, a small smile on her face and tears still slowly falling down her eyes.

"I honestly don't know. Just hearing you say those words mean a lot to me. I just want people to understand me you know?"

"Of course, I understand. You know I'm here for you always, no matter what and if people don't understand you, fuck them. As long as you stay true to who you are, what others say don't and will never matter. Keep being you. Now come here."

He stands up and opens his arms really wide. She giggles a little as she stands up and walks into his arms. His toned arms wrapped around her small frame. She took the time to inhale his scent and she soon started to feel at home.

They pulled away from each other and look at each other. The air in the room seemed to have vanished and Normani felt as if she couldn't breathe. For a second she thought that he was leaning in but she could have been tripping.

"We should eat our food before it gets cold," she says breaking the silence between them.

Grant broke away from his trance and softly smiled down at her and moved away.

It was no secret that they both had feelings for each other but it was only a matter a time before their true feelings made it to the surface.
