7 years agoRomeo and March were huddled around the chalkboard in their Fire Magic class. The other students had already conjured their fireballs and were practicing their aim by shooting the spell at a target towards the back of the room. Romeo had gotten his fireball spell perfect on his first try, hitting the bullseye with precision every time.
March, on the other hand, was having a hard time with the spell. Every time he tried to conjure it, the spell would backfire, shooting sparks and wisps of smoke in every direction except towards the target.
Romeo noticed his friend's struggles and walked over to him, putting a hand on his shoulder. "Hey, don't worry about it. Everyone learns at their own pace."
March sighed. "I know, but why can't I get it? It's like my magic is broken or something."
Romeo shook his head. "Your magic isn't broken, March. You just need to figure out what works for you. Maybe you need to focus on your breathing or change the way you're holding your wand."
March perked up at this suggestion. "That's a great idea! I'll try that."
Romeo grinned at his friend. "I knew you could do it. And if you need any help, just let me know."
March nodded, feeling more confident already. He took a deep breath, and closed his eyes in concentration. Suddenly, a small flame flickered to life from the tip of his finger. March's eyes lit up with excitement and he couldn't help but let out a whoop of joy.
Romeo laughed and clapped him on the back. "See? I told you you could do it!"
March grinned at his best friend. "Thanks, Romeo. I couldn't have done it without your help."
Romeo smiled. "That's what friends are for, dummy."
The Two young boys were still practicing their fireballs when the class bully, a boy named Shiro, strode up to them. Shiro was a tall and muscular boy with slicked-back black hair, and he had never been friendly to Romeo and March.
"I see March still can't perfect a single fire spell since the semester began. What a hopeless case," said Shiro, smirking in triumph.
March's face turned red with anger, "Hey, at least I'm not the one who made that badly concocted potion that blew up in his face last week!" he retorted, drawing laughter from the other students.
Shiro gritted his teeth, he was embarrassed by the mention of the incident.
Romeo knew that Shiro would not back down easily, "What do you want, Shiro?" he asked, hoping to diffuse the situation.
Shiro turned to Romeo and said, "I want to duel with this weakling. He needs to learn his place."
March was not one to back down from a challenge, "Fine, I'll duel you, but be warned, Shiro, I've been practicing, I'm not the same person you used to bully."
The two stood at opposite ends of the room, their hands at the ready. The teacher watched with a stern expression, ready to intervene if things got out of hand.
"Let's see if you can even hit me, March," taunted Shiro, before hurling a flaming fireball in March's direction.
March quickly dodged to the side, releasing his own fireball spell, and the two spells collided in a shower of sparks.
The other students watched in amazement as the two boys darted expertly around the room, unleashing streams of fire and sparks at each other.
Finally, March got the upper hand and shot a powerful fireball straight at Shiro, knocking him off his feet and scorching his robes.
