Azriel wasn't sure how long they've been standing outside the Senate Building. Does a minute? Two? Or more? She doesn't know. Gosh! What was he asking me anyway? I can't remember.
She seems to have a blackout. What's wrong with me! She keeps yelling at herself.
It
"I--, I didn't take the train this morning." She inhaled, felt relief that she finally remembers what Uriel was asking her. She stares at him; he looks puzzled and expressing like she needs to tell the whole story."Logan and his parents were on their way to the city when they passed us at the station. They offer us a ride and drop at the school, so we left our scooter at the train station."
"Us?" asked Uriel; she senses a suspicious tone in his voice.
"Yes. Debby and Benjamin, as usual, I was with almost every day," she answered. Azriel tried to say it casually. She is holding herself not to smile, so she bit her lower lip not to show her amusement to Uriel's jealousy, it seems.
"Okay." Uriel right away drops the subject. She knows him very well. "Let's go." He added afterward.
"Huh?"
"I will take you to your scooter."
Oh shit! Her brain still not fully working. Now she is just staring at how Uriel spread his wings to open a portal. Uriel stretching his arm towards her, offering his hand to hold on, but she was looking at him, not moving a bit.
"Az--, can we go now?" Uriel is aware that Francis and Lorraine are observing eyes were on them the whole time.
"Oh. Yeah, we should . . ." She steps closer and reaches out Uriel's hand. A volt of electricity jolted into her palm then crawl towards her heart. His hand was so warm. God! She screamed at her brain again. She just followed Uriel when he steps inside the portal.
Suddenly, they arrived at the train station right in front of her scooter just in mere seconds. But it takes her half a minute before she moves her feet and settles herself on the scooter. She took out her keys from her coat pocket and tried to start the vehicle.
* * *
It was the sixth time she attempted to start her vehicle. She doesn't want to think it was too old already. She knew she needed to buy a new one, but this vehicle has a sentimental value to her; it is so precious.
"Why don't we just fly back to your home instead?" Uriel suggested, waiting patiently.
"Maybe I will just open the portal myself this time." She offered.
"We will fly." He insisted. Uriel rare to insist on things for his benefit. Most of the time, he just quietly watches and listens to anything and anyone making decisions. But of course, he has his own will to make decisions . . . he doesn't like arguments. He is a man of action, and that's it all.
"Please . . . Az?" He begged.
Did I hear right? Azriel thought. She was shocked; it feels so strange how he acted right now. Uriel seems not to his usual self. What's gotten to him? She asked herself again. Damn! She is always talking to herself now.
She nods, agreeing with what he suggested. They just left her scooter at the train station. Anyway, she could go to university using a portal. But she tried to live normally like everyone else. They still need to act like a human.
They were now flying leaving the train station . . . and him, holding her hand tightly. A while ago, when he insisted on flying, she could feel he has a reason why. Uriel could fix her scooter with his power, she could go home using a portal, but Uriel wanted to have time with her; she feels that. And she was glad she agreed to him and didn't try to open an argument.
She can't avoid enjoying their flight. Even she is a wingless half-angel, Azriel could still fly. All she needs is to transform herself into her battle mode to use her power and dash. And now, Uriel is holding her hand, pulling her into the air, and she could feel the freedom.
She closes her eyes and feels the night breeze under the night sky. When she opens her eyes, Azriel meets Uriel's eyes, staring at her heartily. She glance at their hands clasping together, then she heard Uriel groan.
He halted and pulled her close and locked them in his arms. She was surprised briefly, but then, she pressed her body and melted into his arms. They stayed like that for a long time, floating in the air. No one dares to move and break the silence.
"Az---," Uriel broke the silence after a long moment.
"Hmm?"
"I missed you so bad," Uriel sounded in pain.
"So do I," she looked up and look at his eyes. "Uriel---" Before she could finish her words, Uriel claims her mouth and kiss her passionately.
"I love you," Uriel murmurs between their kisses.
God! You knew how much we love each other! She wanted to scream out loud, but that she never must do.
"You know how much I love you too," she answered.
"I know. Yes. I know," he sighed. "That's why we accepted this mission, right?"
"Yes," she admitted. "So that I could see you again." Tears fell on her cheeks.
"God, forgive me." He whispered. "And I know how much danger this one, but I can't help to be able to get close to you, like this. And---" Uriel wipe her tears.
"---- to hold you like this again," he added. "And kiss you like this again."
He kisses her again, now it deepens and even longer. They both sighed when Uriel releases her lips.
"Azriel---, am going to become insane." She doesn't know what to say to make him feel better. His eyes shone the pain. "I've waited for a thousand billion years. I can't believe how truly hurt this is . . ." his voice full of frustration. He seems suffered too much from the situation they have. They could no longer love each other. They must never act like one.
"Uriel . . . even how Heaven it seems unfair, I don't want to hate it, even I was too much hurt about it." She tried to calm him.
"I know. -- sometimes, I can not avoid thinking about it."
"No. You can't Ur---" He put the finger on her lips, a fear shown in her eyes.
"Ssshh . . . don't worry, am not." He was looking at her frightened eyes, then he smiled. "I love God with all my heart. I've witness hundreds of thousands who fell and suffer because of forbidden love. It would help if you didn't experience that. It would kill me over and over again, even though I'd die of a thousand times already."
His statement eases her a bit. She was happy he don't feel the anger and hate yet. She doesn't want that will come, that Uriel will feel the hatred in his heart . . . like what happened to his oldest brother, the First Child. It would be her fear if that day would come.
Truly Uriel lives for billion years as one of the 15 Archangels of Most High, God's first children. Uriel was born to be devoted to God, His loyal Knight.
She can't blame or hate Heaven, especially God. She knew God only protecting all His children. But like Adam and Eve, too sweet to taste the forbidden fruit. And once more, their lips meet again. They both know God watching them right now, seeing how they broke the Heaven law over again. But their feelings were so vital to control them. They were just madly in love, even against Heaven.
