i will like you in the way i know —
by writing letters, stories, and poems about you
until i ran out of words;
by praying for your safety,
your future, and your life
each and every night;
by accepting all your truth,
all your vices and virtues.

i will like you in the way i can —
by whispering your name
on fallen eyelashes,
on the coins i dropped in the well of wishes,
in all the churches i've been,
and in all the saints i've seen.

i will like you in the way i want to —
by accepting all your perfects and deepest flaws,
all your highest highs and lowest lows,
your bitter end and new beginnings,
i will like you even if the world was ending.
