She opened the gift and was shocked.

She took out a gold necklace with a small butterfly on it as its design.

"A butterfly necklace..?"

She looked at my way, still shocked.

"Why a butterfly? And why is it a necklace?"

"Wow. Doesn't that sound ungrateful?"

I said as I sit down on the chair in front of her, crossed my arms and tilted my head. I was just teasing her though.

"Well... That's not what I meant, but... Isn't this expensive?"

She asked while holding the necklace up high, inspecting it.

"It's fine. Ipon ko naman 'yan. I intended to give you the book that you really wanted, kaso naunahan ako ng foreigner."

"..."

She didn't utter a single word as I look at her and she just stared the necklace and then puts it down while still holding the ends of the necklace.

"Well...since hindi ko nabili yun, I bought that one instead. You know, like the one that you gifted me."

I showed her the necklace I was wearing.

Her focus from my gift shifted to the necklace I have, and she wore a bright smile seeing me wearing what she gifted. I was also glad to see that facial expression.

"I chose the butterfly design with a meaning behind it."

I said half lying.

"Really? And what would that be?"

She asked and put down the box with the necklace. Her tone was as if she couldn't believe it, and even raised an eyebrow.

I stood up and took the necklace in front of her, and put it around her neck.

She was surprised. I bet she didn't expect me to place it on her. Haha.

"Well, I thought that like a butterfly, you're pretty, and you should be flying around with pretty flowers like me."

I half joked and laughed. I couldn't see her face but I'm sure she rolled her eyes when she said:

"Napaka narcissist mo talaga."

I locked the necklace and held her shoulder, then I tilted my head to have a close look at her and I saw the necklace reached below her collarbone. Nice.

"Haha. I was half joking! Haha!"

"So, you were half telling the truth huh?"

She raised an eyebrow again and I just ignored what she said and continued talking.

"Heh. Besides, I'd like you to fly freely into the air."

She looked at me with a neutral expression.

"Seryoso na ba 'yan?"

She asked na para bang 'di naniniwala.

I went back to my seat at naglabas ng isang malaking buntong hininga.

"Of course I'm serious. I'm always serious."

"Not really. You usually joke around all the time. Just like earlier."

Ang diin niya.

"That's why sometimes 'di kita maintindihan."

Dagdag niya pa, at hinawakan ang design ng necklace.

"Well, this time 'di na talaga ako nagbibiro. Syempre, gusto ko talagang makita kang lumilipad, not literally, pero in a way that I want to see u successful in the future."
