07 \ it's you, not her

Ricky has just been listening to Gyuvin blabber nonsense about how he found his girlfriend to be really pretty and smart. He wished that their relationship would end right there. I mean even if he didn't had a crush on Gyuvin, he'd feel the same way. It's as though she was Gyuvin's world.

"You know, if you keep talking about her all day all night, I'm going to ignore you."

"Hey! Ricky, you're so mean." Gyuvin whines as he tugs onto Ricky's sleeve, trying to annoy Ricky more.

And Ricky was being for real. He really started ignoring Gyuvin. In school, after school, every moment. As long as Ricky sees Gyuvin, he'd turn the opposite direction. But too bad, this time round Gyuvin caught him.

"Shen Ricky."

'Fuck...' Ricky thought to himself.

Gyuvin ran in front of Ricky and he looked upset. "You told me you will never avoid me again. Why are you going back on your words?" Gyuvin asked, this time he looked serious, which made Ricky a little nervous. This means either he was going to lose Gyuvin as a friend or he could salvage it by coming up with a super duper genius explanation.

"I... didn't." Ricky is now feeling guilty. He did go a little overboard with the ignoring of Gyuvin but it was to save their friendship from getting ruined. He did not want to like Gyuvin any further, that it may destroy both their friendship and Gyuvin's relationship.

"If you feel so, sure. Let's stay this way then." Gyuvin was pissed. After he finished his sentence, he walked off immediately. Without a goodbye or a smile. Ricky watches as Gyuvin's back disappears from his sight. 'This is for the better, Gyuvin. It is to make you and your girlfriend blissful.' Ricky thought.

The two boys went on with life without talking to each other. Gyuvin now takes the initiative to avoid even bumping into Ricky. Though Gyuvin felt that something was missing is his life, he decided to solely focus on his girlfriend.

And, his girlfriend found him to be overly-attached to him.

"Sorry, Gyuvin. I can't do this anymore. You're too clingy. I have my own life and my other priorities. I can't keep hanging out with you." His girlfriend says, she found it difficult to express her thoughts as she did not want to hurt Gyuvin with her words. "Gyuvin, you are a great person. A great boyfriend too. But I don't think I am capable to deal with this part of you, you're too clingy." She continues, closing her eyes, afraid to even look at Gyuvin.

It's not that Gyuvin was bad to her, he just devotes all his time and love for her and it becomes overwhelming. Gyuvin nods, and then he proceeds to caress his girlfriend (ex, now)'s hair. "I understand. Thanks for being with me." Gyuvin says, trying to hold back his tears. His voice sounded a little shaky. His girlfriend smiles at him and gave him one last hug.

Soon, the news travelled. Everyone knows that they have broken up, except for Ricky. It has been three days since their break up and Gyuvin hasn't been acting normal. Of course, Ricky would not know since they're deliberately ignoring each other.

"Um.. I think Gyuvin is really affected by the break up. Don't you feel bad?" Ricky is now in the library, searching for books that can help him with his current Chemistry assignment, alongside with his textbooks. As soon as Ricky heard Gyuvin's name, he wanted to find out more. So he moved nearer to the girls' table.

"I do. But he's just taking up too much of my time." Gyuvin's ex girlfriend says, sighing. Ricky just realised; they have broken up. When was this? Ricky brushes his fingers across the books, pretending like he's searching for something.

"He looks so sad these days. And, he looks like he has no one to rely on. Then you had to leave him when he was most vulnerable-"

"Shut up, girl. Let's just continue revising. We have a test tomorrow," Gyuvin's ex girlfriend hated the topic of Gyuvin and her relationship. Especially when his best friend was standing right in front of her.

"Kim Gyuvin." Ricky says with a stern tone. He finally found his best friend. Gyuvin stopped walking but he didn't turn around to face Ricky. "Let's talk."

"What? You're only wanting to talk now?" Gyuvin scoffed. He felt pathetic deep down. And Ricky probably is only talking to him now because his girlfriend had broken up with him. He didn't need anyone to comfort him. He just needed to be alone. He needs to learn how to live life without the dependence of anyone.

"Stop it, Kim Gyuvin. Stop this nonsense. Let's be mature and talk things out." Ricky walks up to Gyuvin and grabs his hand. He pulls him out of school. Gyuvin struggles for a while but decides to just give up as Ricky's grip was hard. They're now at Ricky's place, Ricky's room to be specific.

Gyuvin sits motionlessly on Ricky's study chair while Ricky sits on his bed. "So, when was the break up?" Ricky starts the conversation, he knows that Gyuvin will not say anything. "Three days ago." Simple and dry, unlike the usual Kim Gyuvin that Ricky knows.

"And what was the reason?"

"I was too clingy apparently." Gyuvin answers, now playing with his fingers, very obviously avoiding eye contact with Ricky. "You love her a lot, don't you?" Ricky asks, feeling bitter. He hates this, he hates to know the truth; that Gyuvin was in love with her.

"No. I didn't think so."

Huh? Ricky was dumbfounded. If the break up affected him that much, how could he possibly say that he didn't think that he loved her? "Kim Gyuvin, stop acting tough. You truly love her, that's why you're so down now. Because she left you."

"I don't think I'll feel like this if we were still as close as before." Silence. Ricky didn't know what else to say. So Gyuvin would feel better if Ricky was with him all along? Was that it?

"You matter more than her. If I had you all along, I wouldn't need her at all. Believe me." Gyuvin says, looking down. Ricky bites his bottom lip, feeling a little tensed. Why does this feels like a confession that's not exactly like a confession too.

"But you always talked about her. You were so in love-"

"Ricky, are you sure you want to know truth?"
