As she carried the girl to her house, Skylar looked carefully at the girl's face. Yes, there was no doubt about it. This was the girl she'd seen in the picture at Tristan's house. She was a pretty little thing, with pale white skin that looked like porcelain. Skylar was almost afraid to drop her, for fear that she'd shatter. The girl also had long brown hair and... blue-gray eyes? Yes, Skylar had seen those eyes when the girl had stumbled toward her. Fearful and full of tears.
As she brought her into the house, Maria rushed to them. "Are you ok!? Who is this?", she asked. Skylar gave a slow nod and said, "I found her. She'd collapsed from exhaustion, I think." Maria looked at the girl, whose eyes were now fluttering. Rodney walked into the room and stopped. "Who is that, Rainy?", he said. Skylar told him solemnly. His eyes widened. "So, you don't know where she's from?", he asked. Maria looked confused and told her little sister she didn't understand.
Skylar told them everything that had happened in the past day. As she was telling them, their mother walked in and told them she had made biscuits as an appetizer for dinner. Her green eyes traveled slowly around the shocked faces until they came to rest on the sleeping girl. She didn't say anything, but her eyes told a different story. She was scared. She opened her mouth and spoke slowly, as if she was afraid of disturbing a monster's rest, "Go to your rooms. I'll take care of this."
