"AAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!" The scream came from 14-year-old Skylar Goodwin's bedroom. She fell out of her bed just as her older brother, Rodney, walked in. Rodney was a tall, willowy sort of kid. Being 16, his legs had shot up way ahead of the rest of him. He had long black hair that hung down to his shoulder blades, and that was sometimes put up in a ponytail.
He had narrow hazel eyes that always looked observant. Usually, he wore tank tops and athletic clothing, but today he wore a dark blue running jacket with a roller skate T-shirt, along with black stretch pants that showed off his skinny legs even more than usual. His black hair was braided and tied into a messy scrunchie that made him look like he'd just woke up.
Looking down at the pile of tangled bedclothes and human, he said, "Hey sis, have a nice trip? Hope you enjoyed the fall!" Skylar groaned as her brother laughed hysterically. He enjoyed making puns and jokes, even though some of them weren't funny.
Suddenly Rodney asked, " But really, are you ok, Stormy?" Skylar smirked under the bedsheets that were covering her head. Rodney also came up with nicknames for her depending on her mood. Some of them were Sky (When she was feeling normal, not moody), Stormy (When she was angry or upset), Rainy (When she was sad or disappointed), and Sunny (When she was really happy or excited).
She threw the covers off of her head and said, "I'm ok, bro. What's wrong?" Rodney rolled his eyes and said sarcastically," Oh, nothing. Just that I heard you screaming like you were being torn to shreds!" Skylar told him," I...I had this weird nightmare that I was being chased by something. It wasn't human, but it wasn't an animal either."
"It was weird. I hid in a tree and...I think I was crying." Rodney's dark eyebrows rose in surprise. He didn't say anything for a long while. Finally, he spoke. " Let's just get some breakfast. Ok, Sky?" Skylar nodded silently and both of them got up.
