Jayeon washed the blood from her hands.
She watched as the thick, crimson liquid mixed with the water before it ran down the tips of her fingers and then down the drain.
There was a feeling Jayeon was unable to shake off. When she'd brutally killed Sohee the way she did, she felt a wave of excitement coursing through her veins.
But why?
Was it because she could get away with things here, which wasn't possible in modern-day society? Or was it because she enjoyed the feeling of murdering someone? Even as she handled the dead body not a single bone in her body felt bad about how she'd ended another's life.
She described Mr Choi's laughter as sickening. He couldn't care less about who had died. But was she the same? She felt no remorse for the victim, and the weight of her actions seemed nonexistent to her.
Jayeon dried her hands on the floral hand towel as she glanced over to the garbage bag which lay on the cold kitchen tiles.
The sound of hurried footsteps followed and the Jayeon's two best friends came rushing into the kitchen.
"Hey, where did you go!" Jay scolded Jayeon, who was unbothered by his shouts. He soon noticed that the atmosphere of the kitchen was heavier than any of the other rooms in this house.
"Hey, what happened?" Jay asked, stepping closer to the Jayeon and placing his hands on her shoulders.
"Sohee tried to kill me, so I killed her," Jayeon said bluntly, lying through her teeth as she shoved her hands into the pocket of her hoodie. "She's in the bag." She gestured her head towards the suspiciously large garbage bag in the corner of the room.
With one look, they could see she was not lying. How could they only now have realised there was blood all over both Jayeon and the ground? But something didn't sit right with Jake, "What's in the other bag?" He asked, looking at the smaller bag next to the larger one that contained Sohee's body.
Jayeon turned around, looking at the smaller bag. She was quiet, and her silence frightened Jake. "Her head." She responded nonchalantly.
"Excuse me?" Jay choked, he and Jake staring at Jayeon in shock. She showed no emotion and stood casually.
"I'm not repeating myself," Jayeon said before she walked past them. She kept her head hung low as she left the kitchen, heading upstairs.
"Shit, I never knew she had that in her," Jake said, watching Jayeon till she'd completely disappeared from their sight.
Jay looked back at the bags one more time. Shaking his head he'd said, "Me either."

Jayeon stared at her reflection blankly in the mirror. She immediately saw the blood splatters all over her face and her light-coloured hoodie. She cursed herself mentally, pulling off the piece of clothing and throwing it to the floor.
She didn't need it, it was the middle of summer. But then she had second thoughts on leaving it behind so she picked it back up. And then another reason crossed her mind, she didn't want to wear a piece of clothing stained with someone else's blood. The hoodie was then dropped to the floor once again.
Jayeon sighed, frustrated with her indecisiveness as she pushed her hair back. She rolled the sleeves of her school jumper to her elbows, then twisted the faucet's handle. She removed her glasses and then splashed her face with water.
How could she survive in a game like Battle Royale if she couldn't make a silly little decision whether to leave her hoodie or not?
But finally, after drying off her face and rinsing her glasses clear of any blood, she decided to leave the hoodie there.
