A loud beeping noise fills the space in my dark dreamless sleep. I force myself awake and gasp as thousands of thoughts bombard my head, all at once. I clutch my head in my hands and sink further under the blankets.
"Cordelia?" A familiar voice whispers. I make myself open my eyes and regret it as the bright lights above me burn my eyes and add to the excruciating pain my head is already in. "Cordelia." The voice repeats. My vision begins to clear and I make out the shape of someone standing beside my bed.
"What? Huh? Where am I?" I say, my voice catching as another wave of pain hits me when more beeping sounds fill the sterile air and I find myself struggling to make sense of it all.
"The hopsital." The voice says. I look at the woman, she has dark circles under her eyes and appears to be worried. I know her, i'm sure of it but I just can't figure out who she is.
"Who are you?" I whisper. She flinches at my words and takes a deep breath.
"The doctors told me that you might forget some things for a little bit after you wake up. They said it should only be temporary. Do you really not remember me?" She asks, wringing her hands.
"I have.... seen you before. Lots. But right now I'm not sure who you are." I reply. Her shoulders sag with my reply. I see a necklace around her neck, which fills my head with a swarm of memories. Things eventually click in my head and I remember who she is, who I am and how I got here. I remember everything.
"Mum?" I ask, softly. She gasps and nods, tears welling in her eyes. "How long was I unconscious?" I ask, scared to find out the answer.
"Well you fainted at around 4:45. I tried to catch you as you fell but you still hit your head, only a little bit because I managed to grab your arm but you still hit it. You woke up around 15 minutes later when the paramedics were there but then freaked out and fainted again from fear. You just woke up now so I'd say you've been unconscious for a little over half an hour. Tops." She explains.
"Will I be ok?" I ask again.
I sure hope so. The doctors said she would but...............
Her thoughts trail off. "Yes. You'll be ok." She answers, after a little while. She sounds almost as if she's reassuring herself.
The doctors then start to examine my head and make me lie on some tube-like machine and ask me lots of questions.
When they're done, I lie there for a little bit, the doctors checking beepy machines around me, when a voice fills my head, catching me off guard.
Cordelia? The voice asks. It's weird. It..... it sounds like Luke. But thats impossible..... unless he's in hopsital too!
LUKE?! My mind screams.
Yes, hello. Is this Cordelia?
Yes.... but how I don't understand? Are you in hopsital too?
No i'm not in hopsital. Wait? You're in hopsital!!??
Yes.
Are you ok? What happened? He asks and I feel relieved that he's not in hopsital too, but still.
How is he talking to me?
Do you have any ideas?
Do you think it's some result of this head injury thingo?
Wait...... am I back to talking to you again? The non existent being I made up?
Are you even made up? Are you even a being? Or are you something else?
