Ellie blinked her eyes as the sunlight hit her face. Her head layed on her jacket before she pushed herself up in a sitting position.

She was in an abandoned building that Mother Nature was already claiming as her own.

A creak was heard behind Ellie, so she quickly turned her head to see Joel, Tess, Y/N and Daisy looking at her. Joel held a tight grip on his assault rifle as Daisy looked ready to pounce.

"Morning." Ellie awkwardly spoke as she turned around while still sitting on the ground. Ellie slightly lifted herself up to sit comfortably, but Joel slightly lifted his rifle.

Ellie froze up as she looked at the weapon before slowly sitting back down on the ground. "Do I look like I'm infected?"

"Show us your arm." Joel sternly ordered.

Ellie rolled her eyes before lifting her sleeve up, showing the bite on her arm. "Yeah, it's not getting any worse, is it?"

Y/N put his hand on Daisy's back as the dog sat down.

"If we're out in the open city, why aren't we getting swarmed?" Ellie asked.

"Don't worry about that."

"Well, I'm gonna."

"What was Marlene doing with an infected kid?" Tess asked as she looked at the girl.

"I'm not infected. She found me after I was bitten." Ellie explained.

"And she didn't shoot you?" Joel asked.

"Well, yeah. She's here." Y/N said before shrugging. "Right?"

"She locked me up and had her guys test me every day to see if I was getting sick."

"Test you how?"

"I have to pee."

"Test you... how?" Tess raised her voice a bit.

"They'd make me count to ten and hold out my hand and then keep it steady. But, you know, I think what really impressed them was the fact that I didn't turn into a fucking monster. Now can I please?" Ellie stood up, making Joel stand up with her.

Ellie raised her hands to her waist level as she looked at the four.

"Fine. Back there. You can find a spot." Tess nodded to the next room.

Ellie lowered her hands before walking towards the room.

"And here." Tess threw a magazine at Ellie, who caught it. "Tear out a few pages."

"There's not gonna be anything bad in here?"

"Just you."

"Oh, funny." Ellie sighed as she walked into the next room.

The three let out a sigh in relief that Ellie hadn't turned yet.

"I'll check the area." Y/N spoke before getting up and whistling for Daisy to go with him.

Joel and Tess both knew that Y/N wanted some privacy, so they watched him leave the room.

Y/N walked out of the building and looked around the area, seeing no signs of life.

"Hey, Daisy." Y/N began as he walked around the building, the dog following her owner. "What do you think about this whole situation? Ellie is infected, but not turning. Do you think Marlene gave her some pills or some shit so that she's immune?"

Daisy softly barked as she looked up at Y/N.

"It's probably just temporary." Y/N sighed as he kicked a rock away. "There's no cure for this bullshit anyway."
