After finding a quiet place to sleep, the group of four slept on the ground in a forest.
Y/N and Joel walked off to a nearby lake as Daisy kept guard around the still sleeping Ellie.
Joel grabbed some stones out of the lake before putting them on top of each other, resembling a small gravestone.
The two didn't utter a single word. They didn't wanna talk about the loss they had experienced.

When the two returned, Ellie was awake and sitting against a tree with Joel's jacket covering her legs. She was petting Daisy before quickly pulling her arm back when she saw the two arrive.
Joel walked to his backpack and his rifle as Y/N walked to Daisy to pet her. "Morning." he muttered to the brunette.
"Morning." Ellie softly replied before watching Joel searching around in his backpack. "You want your jacket back?"
Joel didn't answer her as he took another bite of his dried jerky chicken. He was about to put it back in his bag before throwing it over to Ellie.
The young girl picked the food up before eating it. "I've never been in the woods. More bugs than I thought."
"You can actually eat some of them." Y/N shrugged as he looked down at the girl.
"You eat bugs?" Ellie asked, a bit shocked.
"Better than starving, right?"
"Weird..." Ellie spoke under her breath. "Look, I've been thinking about--"
"I don't want your sorries. And neither does he." Joel interrupted Ellie.
"I wasn't gonna say I'm sorry. I was gonna say that I've been thinking about what happened." Ellie spoke. "Nobody made you, Y/N, or Tess take me. Nobody made you go along with this plan. You needed a truck battery or whatever, and you made a choice. So don't blame me for something that isn't my fault."
Joel nodded before grabbing his rifle off of the ground.
Ellie stood up as she picked up Joel's jacket and gave it back to him. "How much longer?"
"Five-hour hike." Joel answered.
"We can manage that."
Joel threw his jacket over his shoulder before starting to lead the way.
Y/N walked up beside Ellie as Daisy walked on the other side of the girl. "Hey." he softly spoke, getting the girl's attention. "Tess' death wasn't your fault. We knew what we were getting into. How dangerous it could be."
"I know." Ellie spoke as she looked at Joel's back. "Just appreciated if he knew that too."
"He knows." Y/N softly smiled. "He just needs to warm up to you."
"How do you know that?" Ellie scoffed.
"Because being his son, I've learned that I share similarities with him." Y/N looked at Ellie. "And I was like this the first time Joel brought Tess over so I could meet her."
