After stopping to search for more gas for the truck near a gas station, Ellie excused herself to the bathroom inside.
Ellie walked into the bathroom of the gas station before putting her backpack on the floor and taking out the gun she took from Bill and Frank's house.
She aimed the pistol at the mirror in front of her.
"Pew, pew." she muttered as she imagined herself shooting. "Pew."
Ellie inspected the weapon before taking out the magazine. She looked at the bullets inside befire putting the magazine down.
She let out a grunt as she removed the bullet in the chamber. She picked the bullet up from the ground before looking more closely at it.
Ellie aimed at the mirror once again before pulling the trigger, making the gun click. She smirked before sniffing the gun.
Ellie put the one bullet back into the magazine before sliding it back into her pistol.
The girl put the gun back into her backpack before walking out of the bathroom, seeing Daisy sniffing around the gas station.
"Hey, girl." Ellie smiled as the dog turned to look at her. "Find anything?"
Daisy walked to Ellie before putting herself against her legs. Ellie leaned down to rub behind Daisy's ears before the two walked out of the station.
Ellie and Daisy walked back to Y/N and Joel. Y/N leaned back against a car as Joel siphoned some gas from another car.
"We have to do this every hour?" Ellie asked as Daisy sat down beside Y/N.
"Gas breaks down over time. This stuff's almost water. Back in the day, we'd drive ten, twelve hours on one tank." Joel explained. "You could go anywhere."
"So where'd you go?"
"Pretty much nowhere." Joel answered Ellie's question before blowing into the hose so that the gas came out and into the red gasoline tank.
"Nice!" Ellie smiled. "How does that work?"
"It's a siphon. It's when liquid... travels against gravity because pressure--"
"You don't know."
"He doesn't know." Y/N shook his head with a small smile.
"I know it works." Joel glanced at his son before looking back at the girl in front of him, seeing her laugh. "No wandering." he spoke as Ellie started to walk off.
Ellie sighed as she looked over at the younger Miller before putting her backpack on a car. "Okay. This is your fault then."
Joel slowly looked back up at Ellie to see her taking out a small book.
"'It doesn't matter how much you push the envelope, it'll still be stationary.'" Ellie laughed. But she looked between the two Millers, seeing them looking at her with straight faces. "'No Pun Intended, Volume Too' by Will Livingston. 'Volume Too.' Look. You get it? 'Too'? Like, T-o-o." Ellie showed Joel the book to see it was 'Volume Too' instead of 'Volume Two'.
