Chapter 79: Where to Go...Where is Brother Going
Director Feng walked and talked with Xu Hengzhou, and they soon arrived at their destination.
Standing at the doorway, Director Feng, still concerned, reminded him, "Hengzhou, when you go in, be sure to speak politely. It's not like when your uncle was still around."
"I understand." Xu Hengzhou knew that Director Feng's words were well-intentioned and nodded. "Rest assured, I know how to handle it."
Director Feng recalled Xu Hengzhou's style of doing things. Indeed, despite his young age, this kid was steady and reliable.
So, without saying much more, he knocked on the door. The door quickly opened, revealing a middle-aged woman. Director Feng immediately smiled and stated his identity, and the woman stepped aside, allowing them to enter.
Once inside, they saw a slightly chubby man in his forties. Director Feng greeted him with a smile, "Director Mo, long time no see. Sorry to disturb you today."
"Director Feng, you're too polite," Director Mo pulled the corners of his mouth, revealing a formal smile. "You are a rare guest. I couldn't have invited you even if I wanted to."
Director Feng exchanged a few more pleasantries with him before shifting the conversation to Xu Hengzhou. "This is our young Xu from the factory. He was the top scorer when he joined us initially, very capable. You see, about the matter I discussed with you?"
Director Mo glanced at Xu Hengzhou, took a couple of sips of tea, set the tone, and then slowly said, "We are naturally willing to cooperate with this matter. With you as the guarantor, I can rest assured."
Director Feng, hearing this, knew that the situation was more or less settled. He sighed in relief and quickly praised Director Mo with a few more words. Director Mo and Director Feng exchanged a few more words before Director Mo suggested talking to Xu Hengzhou.
Director Feng, realizing that the specifics were about to be discussed between Xu Hengzhou and Director Mo, knew that his role as an intermediary was complete. Sensing the situation, Director Feng tactfully mentioned that he had some other matters to attend to and left. Before leaving, he subtly signaled Xu Hengzhou to handle the conversation well.
As soon as Director Feng left, Director Mo's demeanor changed slightly. It was evident that he was not as tense as before. Xu Hengzhou knew it was because Director Mo didn't regard him highly and didn't see him as a threat. However, he didn't mind; sometimes, being in a weaker position could also be an advantage.
The two sat in silence for a while. Seeing the young man across from him maintaining a calm demeanor without a hint of panic, Director Mo chuckled lightly, "You can really keep your composure."
Xu Hengzhou remained composed, "You're too kind."
Director Mo rubbed his chin, got up, went into the room, and came back with an envelope, placing it directly in front of Xu Hengzhou, "Take a look."
Xu Hengzhou raised an eyebrow, vaguely guessing what it was. Upon opening it, indeed, it was the letter Mrs. Wei wrote falsely accusing him.
After reading it, Xu Hengzhou put the letter back on the table, still showing no expression on his face, and asked in a deep voice, "What do you mean by this?"
"Don't you understand?" Director Mo's eyes sparkled. He glanced at Xu Hengzhou and said, "Don't beat around the bush with me. Exchanging a formal job position at a mechanical factory for a designated position as a rural youth, no matter how you look at it, you're at a disadvantage. If you shout this out, just within our neighborhood, dozens would be willing to exchange with you. Why did you choose me?"
