I'm really enjoying writing these but if they are feeling a little too long, or too "descriptive" or slow, let me know! c: hope you enjoy <3

Three weeks flew by and it was the night before we started Hogwarts. Hermione and I had decided to have a sleepover after we'd finished packing the rest of our belongings into our new trunks. We'd gathered blankets on the floor, with pillows, draped a duvet over my desk chair to my bed and ate popcorn while playing board games.

"What do you think the boys will be like?" She looked at me quizzically from across the floor after I'd finished my question.

"Y/n, we aren't going there to meet boys. We're going there to learn about magic and spells and about being witches,"

"Yeah, we can do all of that, but there will be boys there. Magical boys. Magical Teenage boys." I wiggled my eyebrows at her as my smile widened.

"Okay, maybe there'll be one or two cute boys," She giggled trying to hide her smile. "But I'm definitely going to focus more on studying. I'm going to be the best. Now, if you'd let me, I'd like to continue reading Hogwarts: A History." Hermione paused and turned her back to me. I heard her flicking through the pages, and then silence.

All my sister had done since we had gotten back from Diagon Alley was read her books. She'd asked for more than what was on the list too of course. According to Hermione, because we were so called "Muggle-borns", we had to try extra hard, which meant extra reading.

I laid on my back staring at the ceiling from the floor. I could see Meredith's feathers fluffing up in the light from the street.

"We'll be in our new home tomorrow, and you can fly wherever you wish," I pushed myself up from my place on the floor, and then walked over to her cage. She was such a loving owl, and she warmed up to me particularly quickly. I'm sure I was her favourite.

I opened her cage door and slipped my hand in, stroking her cheek softly. Meredith hooted quietly at me as if to say goodnight when I'd closed the cage and slid back onto my spot in the blankets. I looked at her once more then turned to my side to hopefully fall asleep.

The next morning I felt energised. I was definitely not a morning person, but maybe this new magical me was? Was Y/n the witch a morning person? Who knows. I had the chance to reinvent myself, have a fresh start. No one in this world knew who I was, and knew nothing about me. I could be anyone I wanted to be. It seemed like I could be anything I wanted to be.

I needed an outfit to stand out today. Okay, maybe that was like any other day for me, but today it really meant something. This was the first time everyone would see me. I decided to wear some floral patterned jean shorts, and a cropped, loose fitting tshirt, in green of course - my favourite colour. I slipped on some white tennis shoes and made my way downstairs.

"Morning, sunshine! It's the big day. Are you excited?" Mum kissed my forehead as I sat down at the table ready to eat my cornflakes.

"Mhm!" I tried to say with my mouth full. I swallowed, looking around for Hermione and my Dad.

"Your Dad and Hermione are outside packing the car." Mum patted me lightly on the back. "Finish up your food sweetie, we have to get going soon." I pretty much shovelled the rest of my food in my mouth nearly choking along the way. It's probably better that I didn't choke on the first day of my new life.

Before long, we were outside making sure Meredith was secured in the backseat of the car. Being the smaller of us two, I slid into the middle seat between my, I mean, our owl and Hermione.

I studied the houses outside during the car journey to King's Cross. Making notes of what they looked like, what the people looked like, the streets, the trees, the shops and even the back of my parents' heads. I wanted to remember all of this, as it was going to be nearly a year before I would see it all again. It was a bittersweet moment really, but I was overwhelmed with excitement.
