Hermione stared at me, realising that the only seat was next to me. She scowled, then sighed and sat down, dropping her bag by the side of her. I was glad that we actually shared Potions with Gryffindor, it meant that I could try to fix what was going on between us.
"Look, Hermione. Please just spe-"
"Up, Miss Granger, now." A man with greasy black hair had walked into the classroom pointing at me. "I'm not having you and your sister sitting next to each other gossiping all year," he said sternly.
"But Professor, we aren't going to be talking," I argued back.
"10 points from Slytherin, now don't make me ask you again and lose more points for our house," he was now standing in front of our table and looking down at me. This was my Head of House, Professor Snape himself.
"Fine, where?" I sighed pulling my bag up from the table.
"In fact, no. Mr Malfoy, you come sit here and the other Miss Granger, you pull up a chair next to Mr Weasley and Mr Potter, I'm sure they will need it."
"I'm sorry, Professor. Did you just tell me to sit next to Y/n?" Draco questioned.
"That's correct, Mr. Malfoy. Now if you do not move within the very next second there will be another 10 points from our house and the both of you will receive detention." Professor Snape scowled at Draco and watched him as the seating arrangements changed and he sat down next to me. "In your next lesson, there will be a seating chart and you will be assigned a partner for the rest of the year. It may be who you are sat with right now, and some of you may not. Do not disappoint me."
I turned my head slightly to the left as to not even see the boy from the corner of my eye. I heard his chair move then slide a little further away. Of course, he was sat on the edge of the table.
"I don't bite. I know that we don't like each other but you don't have to sit that far away," I said to Draco under my breath.
"Snape making me sit next to a Mudblood.. Wait until my Father hears about this," he spat at me. I rolled my eyes at him, we're stuck next to each other, the least he could do is be a little more nice to me - it's not as if this is any better for me.
"Get out your books and turn to Chapter 4. We will be discussing your equipment and what each piece is for.." Professor Snape trailed off as he paced around the room. He stood at the other end of the classroom as his eyes didn't leave me and Draco.
"Draco, give me back my book, please?" I asked the blonde boy quietly. I looked at him in his eyes and he smirked mischievously at me. I mouthed please again to him, in hopes of not catching Professor Snape's attention.
"I have no idea what you're talking about," Draco snarled, opening his book. A small smirk formed on his face confirming everything that I already knew.
"Draco, I know you ha-"
"Miss Granger, what is the problem now?" Professor Snape appeared in front of our desk, staring down his nose at us, flaring his nostrils.
